Slot Overview

Before your first spin even lands, Rainbow Riches Pick ‘n’ Mix asks you a question most slots never bother with: which bonuses do you actually want? Five of the franchise’s best-loved features are laid out on the loading screen and you pick up to three. Lock in just one, and you’ll see it more often. Spread across all three, and the action varies more. That one design decision is what separates this Irish-themed slot from almost every other entry in the Rainbow Riches catalogue. For longtime fans of the series, it’s a small thing that makes a genuine difference in every session.

What’s Inside The Demo

Bonus Choice

The game opens on a lush emerald landscape with five bonus panels displayed front and centre. Pick between 1 and 3 to be active during play. Your chosen bonuses appear as circular icons during the session and their scatter symbols are the only bonus triggers in play; anything you didn’t select simply can’t appear. If you change your mind mid-session, the Reset Bonus button takes you straight back to the selection screen before the next spin. It’s a system that genuinely rewards knowing what you enjoy.

Road to Riches

The series’ signature trail feature. Land 3 Road to Riches scatter symbols and a leprechaun guides you along a winding path of multipliers, starting at x7 and running up to x500, using an 8-segment wheel. Two segments are COLLECT, the rest move you 1 to 6 steps forward. You can’t collect on the first spin, so there’s always at least one step on the board. Land 4 scatters and you trigger Super Road to Riches, which starts the trail at x14 with enhanced values throughout. Five scatters delivers the Mega version with the same elevated multiplier structure and a guaranteed minimum win of x500.

Pots of Gold

A spinning wheel surrounded by bronze, silver, and gold pots. Bronze pots carry multipliers from x50 through to x100; silver runs from x120 up to x250; the gold pot sits alone at x500. The wheel spins and an arrow points to the winning pot, which then multiplies your triggering stake. Super and Mega versions remove the bronze pots entirely, leaving only silver (locked at x250) and gold. Quick to resolve, but the potential at the higher tiers is substantial. During our session we landed a silver pot worth 250x for a £150 return.

Magic Toadstool

Twenty-four toadstools fill the screen. You start with 3 picks, and each toadstool hides either a cash multiplier or a fairy. Find a fairy and 3 additional toadstools appear, extending your run. The standard version carries multipliers from x1 to x5. Super adds x10 into the mix; Mega adds x20. Built-in protection ensures you won’t walk away empty. The standard version guarantees at least x8 of your bet, and the Super version sets a floor of x50. If all remaining picks clear all toadstools, the win total carries a final multiplier of x2 (one pick left) or x3 (two picks remaining).

Cash Crop

Fifty spinning coins fill the screen across three progressive levels. Coins reveal multipliers on one side and blanks on the other; active multipliers at each level are added to your running total. A large coin then determines whether you collect or advance to the next level. Level 1 pays at face value, Level 2 doubles the coin values, and Level 3 sees coins worth x5 or x10 each. In the Super and Mega versions, a GO ON result is guaranteed at the end of Level 1, ensuring you always see at least two rounds of coin flips.

Free Spins

Three Free Spins symbols landing on reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously trigger the round. Note that the Free Spins scatter only appears on those three reels in standard play, and reel 1 carries a stacked version. Three symbols award 10 spins, four award 20, and five delivers 30. During the round, the Free Spins symbol converts into a wild, and landing more during the bonus retriggers it for additional spins. A separate reel set is used, with the lower-paying card symbols visually redesigned while retaining identical payout values.

Premium Play

A secondary mini-reel set of 3 reels and 1 win line is accessible at any point during play. Click the option on the left of the reels, set your stake to $2.00 or $5.00 and spin for a match 3 outcome. Landing three identical bonus symbols triggers that feature directly; landing three Mega Spins symbols delivers 5 spins with a chance to trigger any of your active bonuses. One important detail before you use it. All bonuses and Mega Spins triggered through Premium Play pay out at a fixed $0.60 stake level, regardless of your chosen Premium Play stake.

Wild Symbol

A gold coin featuring a top-hatted leprechaun. Substitutes for all symbols except the five bonus scatters. The Rainbow Riches Logo symbol carries an additional prize; fill all 15 positions on the grid with logo symbols, and the payout jumps to x500 of the total bet.

How to Play

Before You Spin

Before play begins, you will be presented with the bonus selection screen and asked to choose 1, 2 or 3 of the 5 available features. This isn’t cosmetic. It determines which scatter symbols can appear on the reels and which bonuses can trigger. Choose one and you’ll see it more regularly; choose three and you get more variety, but each individual feature comes up less often.

The 5×3 grid runs on 20 fixed win lines, left to right from reel 1. Only the highest win per line is paid. Bonus scatter symbols pay anywhere in view (minimum 3 of the same) and wins are added on top of any line wins. The game also carries three RTP tiers worth knowing about. Under £1 per spin, the figure sits at 94%; over £1, it rises to 96.02% as shown in the in-game rules; Premium Play pushes it to 98%. Check the info panel on your chosen version to confirm which is active. All five features run identically in free play, so a few sessions in the demo will quickly clarify which bonus combination suits your style.

If the main grid is being stubborn, the Premium Play button at the top of the screen switches you to the 3-reel mini game. Match three bonus symbols on the single win line to trigger that feature directly, or land three Mega Spins for a chance at any of your active bonuses. Just bear in mind that Premium Play features pay at a fixed $0.60 stake rather than your full wager.

Ultimate Slots Verdict

Rainbow Riches Pick 'n' Mix earns its place at the top of a crowded franchise by doing one thing no other entry bothers with: giving you meaningful control over what you're playing for. Five bonus rounds, each with its own rhythm and risk profile, and you choose which ones enter the session. That's not a gimmick. For players who know which features suit their style, it changes how the game feels from the first spin. The 500x top prize is modest by modern standards, but the design intelligence here more than compensates.

✓ What We Like

  • The bonus selection system is genuinely meaningful. Choose one feature and you'll trigger it noticeably more often, which is a rare design choice that most similar games don't attempt.
  • Five distinct bonus formats covering trail, wheel, pick, cascade, and free spins, with something for most player preferences across the range.
  • Super and Mega bonus tiers scale up both the multiplier values and the guaranteed minimums, so landing 4 or 5 scatters carries real weight rather than cosmetic uplift.
  • The Reset Bonus button is available before any spin, meaning you're never locked into a feature set that isn't working for your session.
  • The 98% RTP available on Premium Play stakes is among the highest in the franchise and a genuine incentive for higher-bet play.

✗ What Could Be Better

  • The 500x top prize is modest by modern standards. Players used to four or five-figure multiplier caps will find Pick 'n' Mix underwhelming on that front.
  • Premium Play bonuses pay at a $0.60 fixed stake rather than your actual wager. If you're betting well above that level, the feature returns feel disproportionately small.
  • Cash Crop is the weakest of the five features in terms of engagement. Fifty spinning coins and a collect/go-on flip is functional but lacks the tension the other four rounds generate.

Detailed Review

Gameplay Notes

We went with Pots of Gold, Road to Riches, and Magic Toadstool bonuses, skipping Free Spins since it features on most pages we cover, and Cash Crop felt like the more passive choice of the five. The base game was quiet for a stretch, the kind of slow run Pick ‘n’ Mix is known for when your bonus symbols refuse to line up. That’s when we switched over to Premium Play.

Magic Toadstool came first. With three picks across 24 toadstools, a fairy appeared early, and three extra toadstools revealed themselves, opening up the run considerably. We ended with one pick remaining and all the toadstools cleared, triggering the x2 final multiplier on a $13.20 running total for a $28.20 result. Pots of Gold followed next. Quick and decisive, the wheel landed silver at 250x for a £150 return off a small base stake. Road to Riches was the third trigger and the most classically Pick ‘n’ Mix in feel. We reached 15x on the trail before COLLECT appeared, returning $12. More than outlay, but Road to Riches is a feature where you always leave wondering how far the next run might have gone.

Compared to Rainbow Riches Free Spins, a tighter single-feature release on a 10-payline grid, Pick ‘n’ Mix is the more versatile of the two. Free Spins hits its bonus more predictably and suits shorter sessions; the depth here is noticeably greater. Slingo Rainbow Riches is a different genre entirely, part slot, part bingo, and suits a completely different kind of player.

The game’s age shows occasionally in the base reel texture. The standard play loop is fairly lean, and sessions without features can feel like waiting rather than playing. That’s the honest trade-off.  Pick ‘n’ Mix is built for players who know what they enjoy and want the tools to pursue it on their own terms and is less suited to anyone looking for constant stimulation between bonuses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The game only places scatter symbols on the reels for the bonuses you have active. Deselected bonuses have no scatter presence at all, which is exactly why narrowing your selection increases how often that feature triggers. There are simply more spin combinations that can produce the required scatter count when only one type is in play.
If you clear all the toadstools before your picks run out, the win meter total receives a final multiplier at the close of the round. One remaining pick gives a x2 multiplier; two remaining gives x3. It's an uncommon outcome but a rewarding one, since running down the entire board before your picks are exhausted automatically boosts whatever total you've built up.
In the standard version, silver pots display multipliers from x120 through to x250. In the Super and Mega versions, all silver pots are locked to x250 and the bronze pots are removed entirely. It's a scaling floor principle. The more scatters that triggered the bonus, the fewer low-value outcomes remain on the wheel, improving what the feature can return at minimum.
In Super Road to Riches, triggered by 4 scatter symbols, the COLLECT segment cannot appear until you've passed the x15 position, meaning x20 is the earliest you can be sent back. The standard 3-scatter version has no such protection and COLLECT can land from the second wheel spin onward. The Mega version bypasses the question entirely with a guaranteed x500 floor.
No. Turbo Mode only affects animation speed and has no bearing on game outcomes. The rules panel confirms that all results are determined independently of spin speed. Whether Turbo is on or off, the probability of any active bonus triggering stays identical across every spin.
