The vault sits there on every spin, just out of reach (how frustrating!). Five O symbols are scattered across the reels, each one carrying a quiet chance of turning gold, and if all five flip at once, the whole game opens up into something else entirely!
Action Bank has always been built around that one moment of anticipation, and this Light & Wonder rebuild keeps the tension intact while bringing the RTP up to 96.08%.
A note on versions: the original Barcrest release from 2016 carries a different RTP figure and is still widely referenced on review sites. This article covers the current Light & Wonder version, confirmed by the in-game legal text. If you have played Action Bank before and the numbers seem different, that is why. The free play demo is the cleanest way to check which version you are running. The in-game legal notices screen will confirm the copyright year.
Five reels, three rows, 20 fixed paylines. Wins require three or more matching symbols on consecutive reels from left to right, with only the highest win paid per line. One further rule worth knowing: only the positions containing the winning symbols count toward the payout for that combination, not the full payline. The Wild substitutes for all paying symbols but does not act as a Double symbol. That distinction matters in free spins and is covered below.
The paytable is compact. Four symbol tiers, values scaling with bet size.
| Symbol | 5 of a Kind | 4 of a Kind | 3 of a Kind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wild Joker | 25x bet | 5x bet | 1x bet |
| 7 | 25x bet | 5x bet | 1x bet |
| Bar | 5x bet | 1x bet | 0.5x bet |
| X | 2.5x bet | 0.5x bet | 0.25x bet |
The O symbol is a scatter that can land on all five reels. Each O that appears has a chance to transform into a Vault symbol, with only one O per reel able to make that conversion. When all five reels show a Vault symbol simultaneously, the Vault Pick triggers.
The Vault Pick presents the player with five Vault symbols to choose from. Each one awards either a number of Free Spins or the Big Bank Bonus. Free Spins and the Big Bank Bonus cannot be awarded from the same Vault Pick. The available Free Spins counts from the Vault Pick are 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25.
Selecting Free Spins from the Vault Pick does not immediately begin the bonus. Instead, a Free Spins Gamble is offered. The player can collect the awarded spins or gamble them. Gambling gives a 50/50 chance to increase the count to the next tier up, or to lose spins down to the next tier, all the way to zero if the run of losses continues. The available counts across the gamble are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. Reaching 30 ends the gamble automatically and awards 30 spins. Reaching zero ends the gamble and returns the player to the main game with no bonus.
During Free Spins, Double symbols are added to reel 1 only. These do not appear during the main game at all. Any winning line that includes a Double symbol on reel 1 pays twice the standard value for that combination. Wilds are excluded from reel 1 during Free Spins entirely, landing only on reels 2 through 5. This means a Wild cannot occupy the same reel as a Double symbol, and the Wild does not carry the doubling effect even when it forms part of a winning line.
The Vault Pick can retrigger during Free Spins if five Vault symbols appear. When this happens, the player picks an additional spin count of 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25, which is added to the remaining spins. The Big Bank Bonus is not available as a retrigger prize during Free Spins, and the Free Spins Gamble is not offered on retriggered spin counts.
Selecting the Big Bank Bonus from the Vault Pick in the main game takes the player to a picking round with 15 vault doors. Behind them are Sapphire, Ruby, and Diamond prize icons. Collecting three of the same type awards the prize shown on that tier’s meter.
| Gem | Prize range |
|---|---|
| Sapphire | 25x – 250x bet |
| Ruby | 50x – 375x bet |
| Diamond | 100x – 500x bet |
The bonus ends as soon as a set of three matching gems is collected. The prize within each tier is determined by the meter value at the point of collection, not by a fixed amount.
Turbo Mode is available in the main game and speeds up each spin. It cuts off automatically when Free Spins is awarded, regardless of whether it was active at the time.
