Nolimit City’s Barbarian Fury Demo

Barbarian Fury splash screen with the Fury Spins, Barbarian Respin and Roaring Wild panels
Three barbarians wait behind cage bars in the Barbarian Respin panel, between a Fury Spins ladder climbing x1 to x4 over three +1 wolf Scatters and a Roaring Wild bear tagged x1 to x4.

Barbarian Fury is the first chapter of a two-game Nolimit City story, and it opens in a frozen pine forest with snow drifting past a stone reel frame lined with skulls. The Barbarian Fury demo shows a 2020 release built around one move, the nudge. Nolimit City’s Product Owner Per Lindheimer called it “back to the roots where xNudge really begun”, and it’s a nudge-filled Nolimit City slot from the Wild to the free spins.

The bear Wild nudges into full view and gains a multiplier as it moves. The barbarians nudge and lock for a respin. Fury Spins goes furthest, because it has no fixed number of spins. The round lasts as many spins as it takes the wolf Scatters to nudge down and drop off the bottom of the reels.

Features and Free Play

Barbarians That Lock

Three barbarians top the paytable, and each is four rows tall on the 5×4 grid, so one can fill a whole reel. The red one is a bearded warrior with a raven on his head and a sword in his hand. The green one is a woman with a blade and a bird of prey. The blue one wears feathers and has an owl perched above him.

Land three or more of the same barbarian, and the Barbarian Respin may start. In the main game, it isn’t guaranteed. When it does fire, the matching barbarians nudge until they’re fully on screen, then lock in place for one respin. Any bear Wilds on the reels lock with them.

Nolimit City splits the game’s return three ways: 49.48% from the main game, 22.26% from the Barbarian Respin, and 24.32% from Fury Spins. A feature that only might fire outside the bonus pays back nearly as much as the free spins.

Scatters That Slide Out

The snarling wolf is the Scatter. It has no line pay, and Fury Spins begins once at least three land. Each one nudges down a row at a time until it drops out of the bottom of the reels, so a wolf on the top row has further to fall than one already on the bottom row.

Fury Spins

Fury Spins turns those nudges into the spin count. Each nudge a wolf makes on its way down and out is one free spin, and the total is built fresh with each trigger. A wolf that lands during the round adds spins in the same way, one for each row it slides before it leaves the reels.

The bear’s multiplier changes too. In Fury Spins, it becomes sticky and doesn’t reset between spins, and each extra bear that lands adds +1 to it. The Barbarian Respin is guaranteed here as well, so three or more matching barbarians during the round always lock for a respin, with any bears locked beside them.

How to Play

A Bear Four Rows Tall

Barbarian Fury reels with a full-height bear Wild on reel 3, the red, green and blue barbarians and a wolf Scatter
The Roaring Wild bear fills all four rows of reel 3 beside the red barbarian on reel 2, with a wolf Scatter on reel 4 and the green and blue barbarians on the outer reels.

The Roaring Wild is a roaring bear four rows high, and it only appears on the three centre reels. It always nudges until it’s fully in view, and each nudge adds +1 to its multiplier. So, a bear that lands mostly off the grid ends its nudge with a bigger multiplier than one that lands fully in view.

Two or three bears can share a winning line. The game adds up the multipliers of every bear on that line and pays the line at the combined figure. The bear completes any barbarian or shield line, always as whichever combination pays most, but it never takes the wolf’s place. Reels 1 and 5 never show a bear, so every winning line has to begin with a real symbol on the first reel.

Those lines are fixed. All 25 play on each spin, and none can be switched off. A line pays when matching symbols form an unbroken run that begins on the first reel, and each line pays out its biggest combination only. A barbarian can land with only part of its body on screen, and it nudges into full view only when the Barbarian Respin fires, so a partial barbarian counts on the rows it shows and no more.

Outside Fury Spins, the bear’s multiplier applies to the spin it lands on. Within the bonus, it stops resetting and climbs with each new bear.

Wild reels that nudge to fill and raise a multiplier as they move also appear in Tombstone R.I.P., the studio’s 2022 western.

RTP

The floor is a quarter of a euro, €0.25, and Nolimit City lets you raise the bet as far as €100. Over the long run, the game pays back 96.06% of what’s bet, its RTP. Every figure in the table below is a multiple of the total bet, since the bet covers all 25 lines together. There’s no booster or ante setting, so a bet of any size plays the same 25 lines and the same three features.

Paytable

The red barbarian pays 10x for five, then falls hard to 1.2x for four and 0.8x for three. The green and blue barbarians pay 6x and 4x for five, with far smaller pays for four. The five shield ranks form a tight band: 3x for A, 2.4x for K, and 2x each for Q, J, and 10, and three of those last three pay 0.2x, the lowest figure here. Four of a kind pays little on any symbol, and three red barbarians at 0.8x beat four of any shield. The green barbarian’s 1x for four is the next best four-of-a-kind figure after the red one. The bear and the wolf have no row in the table.

Symbol 3 4 5
Red barbarian 0.8x 1.2x 10x
Green barbarian 0.68x 1x 6x
Blue barbarian 0.6x 0.8x 4x
A 0.24x 0.72x 3x
K 0.24x 0.72x 2.4x
Q 0.2x 0.6x 2x
J 0.2x 0.6x 2x
10 0.2x 0.6x 2x

Ultimate Slots Verdict

Counting Fury Spins in nudges ties the free spins to the same move as the Wild and the respin, and that one rule makes Barbarian Fury a sound template for Nolimit City's 4-row xNudge Wild. The Barbarian Respin pays back nearly as much as the bonus, so there's more going on between features than the line pays suggest. Small line wins and a low cap are what stop it scoring higher.

Hits What we like

  • Fury Spins length comes from how far the wolf Scatters nudge, so each trigger builds its own count
  • Bear Wild multipliers turn sticky in Fury Spins, and each extra bear adds +1
  • Two or three bears on one line combine their multipliers
  • Barbarian Respin locks matching barbarians and any Wilds for one more spin
  • All three features use the nudge, so the rules are quick to learn
  • Four-row barbarians in red, green, and blue are easy to read on the 5x4 grid

Misses What could be better

  • Line pays are small, 10x for five red barbarians and 1.2x for four
  • Wolves landing on the lower rows give only a short Fury Spins round
  • In the main game, three matching barbarians don't always start the Barbarian Respin

Detailed Review

Spins Counted in Nudges

Fury Spins has no spin count until the wolves start moving. Three Scatters land, each slides down a row at a time, and each row it drops before leaving the reels becomes a free spin. That one rule sets how long the bear’s multiplier has to grow, since the multiplier stops resetting once the round begins and each extra bear adds +1. Two triggers with three wolves each can give very different rounds, depending on which rows the wolves land on.

For this review, Barbarian Fury is the reference point for the studio’s 4-row xNudge Wild. One Wild nudges and multiplies, one respin locks the barbarians, and the free spins reuse the same nudge to set their length. Nothing in the rules needs a second read, and the three features share one idea, so learning the bear teaches the wolves and the barbarians too.

The Underrated Barbarian Respin

The Barbarian Respin is the underrated part. It returns nearly as much as Fury Spins and can fire outside the bonus, so a board with three matching barbarians has something to offer even when no wolf appears. Because the bears lock alongside the barbarians, a respin that starts with a bear on screen keeps that bear in place for the second look.

Snow falls through dark pines behind a skull-lined stone frame, a plain ice setting that suits fur-clad warriors. The tall portraits are easy to tell apart by colour, red, green, and blue, and the bear fills a reel with an open-jawed roar. The card ranks are carved into round wooden shields, so even the low symbols belong in the forest.

The weaker side comes from the numbers. Line pays are small, 10x for five red barbarians and 1.2x for four of them, so most wins between features are fractions of the bet. An 8,785x maximum win is low beside the bigger caps of later Nolimit City xNudge games. When all three wolves land on the lower rows, the bonus feels short before it has properly begun, and that letdown is part of how a count built from nudges works.

As free play, it shows xNudge at its most readable. Anyone new to Nolimit City’s nudging Wilds can learn the whole idea from one screen of rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

There's no set number. Each wolf Scatter nudges down and off the bottom of the reels, and every nudge adds one spin, so wolves that land higher up give a longer round. Wolves that land during the round add spins the same way.
