Ice Wolf 2 slot lifts the top prize to 10,000x the bet, a million at the biggest stake and 4x what the 2019 game could pay. The return slips to 94% to get there, down from the 96.1% the first game returned. Every round starts on just 3 rows, the reels above them iced over. Land a win, and the ice shatters upward a row at a time, wolves come out to smash more of it open, and the sealed reels overhead come into play. Wilds pile up where they pass, and the grid keeps opening toward its full 100,842 ways.
Ice Wolf 2 stacks 6 columns into 3 sections. The main section sits at the bottom, 3 rows that pay on their own. Over it, the ice section and a one-row feature row are iced over when each spin begins, dormant while the ice holds. A win breaks the ice above its own symbols, one cell for each symbol in the combination, and frees those positions for the rest of the game round.
Every win also awards a respin, and respins keep coming as long as fresh wins or Ice Wolves keep landing. Thaw enough of the grid, and the ways climb from 729 toward the count overhead.
The wolves are the quickest way in, and they come in 3 forms.
Any wild a wolf runs past has its multiplier bumped up a step, and one carrying none to begin with is handed an x2 for the trouble.
Two wilds share the reels. The regular Wild wears a silver plate and stands in for any paying symbol, but only while ice still covers it. The Golden Wild substitutes just as freely, and can arrive with an x2, x3 or x5 value already on it. Golden Wilds are always sticky, keeping their spot for the whole game round, so a good one can sit and grow across a long run of respins.
That top row is where the extras sit. Its multipliers can sit at x2, x3, x5, x10 and x50, the x2 to x10 in red frames and the x50 in gold. Once a multiplier is free of ice, it is additive and applies to every win on the grid, whichever column pays. The same row also carries the Bonus symbol and the +1 Spin symbol, both of which sit tight through the respins and cash in once they run out.
Clear the ice off an active Bonus symbol in the feature row, and the Wolf Spins begin. A fourth section, the Wolf Den, thaws out beneath the main grid and packs more wolves into every spin, and the bonus opens with 5 Wolf Spins on the clock. A +1 Spin symbol stretches it further, and since wins still trigger respins inside it, 5 is often just where it begins.
The X-iter menu sells 5 ways into the action.
You do not play all the ways at once in Ice Wolf 2. Each win melts more ice and thaws the next row up, and a flat spin uses only a fraction of the grid while a hot one shows the lot. That is the rhythm of it, and in free play the pattern is easy to watch without stake pressure.
Stakes span $0.20 to $100.00 a spin, each bet made up of 100 coins. Wins pay along touching columns, counted from column 1, and only the longest line counts. The Viking cast pays best when 6 land, and the wolf head leads the table.

What Ice Wolf 2 gets right is turning the wait into the best part of the game. 3 kinds of wolf break the ice open in different shapes, the Golden Wilds stay put while a win mounts, and the Bonus wakes a whole extra den of them under the grid, so the main game stays livelier than the original's respins ever managed. It adds a complete feature set without smothering the trick that made it work. High volatility keeps the big rounds honest, and a hot respin chain can build in a hurry, which is where the sequel finds its personality.
The frozen grid is the character of the game. You settle in on 3 rows doing their work while a wall of ice hangs over them, and the pull is watching that wall come apart. Each win peels a layer back, the cave glowing blue behind the reels, until the middle rows and the top feature row finally join in.
What makes the reveal worth watching is the wolves. An Ice Wolf that tears up a column, shatters the ice and leaves a run of wilds in its wake is the most watchable thing on the reels, and the golden pack taking 3 columns at once, this time from the top down, is better still. The howl that clears a cone of ice to one side adds variety, and it never feels like a canned animation bolted on top.
It turns theatrical once the Bonus lands. Three wolves rise out of the den beneath the grid, the middle one growling and lunging at the screen, while at the foot of the reels the rest sit waiting, eyes lighting up before each charge up the columns. Bought in for 100x, our round grew quietly, a wolf here, a wild trail there, until the fifth spin cleared the lot for a $341.60 hit and a $354.60 finish. All of it was staged in the cave, a Viking longship curving up on either side.
Between the peaks, the ice engine keeps the reels from going flat. Every win earns a respin, so a hit tends to roll into a short streak instead of stopping dead. Our opening Ice Breaker put the feature row straight into play, a lone x3 turning a $2.00 win into $6.00 and a scatter of small hits nudging the total to $9.30; a later spin stacked an x2, an x3 and another x2 with an x2 wild for a $71.40 Mega Win. In free play the reels rarely go quiet for long, and the respins hand you more spins than the count suggests.
The ceiling is real, but the Super Bonus is where the value question gets honest. One never truly got going, a stray x2 landing with nothing to multiply, and it closed at $131.45, short of the 250x it cost and of a plain bonus. Another went the other way, a bronze x10 alongside a feature-row wild for a $250.00 hit, then a respin that added an x2 and more wilds for a $528.00 burst on the way to $863.50. Same buy, two very different outcomes.
Six years on, the wolves finally have a den and a hunt of their own. Anyone after a grid that fills up as it goes will get on with this, and a spin through the free demo shows soon enough whether the 94% and the patience it needs suit you. There is more replay here than we brought to this review, across the base game and the 5 X-iter buys to poke at.
