About Game

Hey Sushi Demo

Hey Sushi demo reels with unagi bowls, temaki, tamago and card ranks on rice, crab chef to the left
A frowning crab chef folds his claws beside the stall, and the Multiplier bar at the top right shows x1 lit, with x2, x3, and x5 still dark.

How much are 10 free games worth before the first one spins? In Hey Sushi, that depends on when they arrive. The slot dresses up as a cartoon lunch counter, all neon signs, soy bottles, and a crab chef who looks unimpressed with your order. A timing game runs under the plates. The cascade on which the feature triggers sets the multipliers for the whole round, from X1 to X5 at the low end to X5 to X15 at the top.

The stall is built from wood, with a red curtain behind the reels and a neon “24h” sign glowing on the right. The chef, left of the reels, wears a white jacket and a tall toque, with claws folded and brows down. A glazed unagi bowl leads the food symbols, and the card ranks are shaped from prawn, octopus, and roe on discs of rice.

Slot Bonus Features

Cascade Multiplier

A win swaps its symbols out for new or existing ones, and the chain carries on while fresh wins keep forming. Each new cascade moves the game multiplier one step along the bar above the reels: X1 on the opening cascade, then X2, X3, and X5 from the fourth cascade onward. A cascade with no new win resets it to the starting value.

Trigger-Cascade Ladder

Hey Sushi reels with the sushi platter Scatter on reel 2 and the crab Wild on reel 4
The platter Scatter tops reel 2 and the red crab Wild fills the bottom of reel 4, with the Multiplier bar still on x1.

Three or more Scatters anywhere award 10 free games, and the main game’s cascades end on the spot. Which cascade the trigger comes on picks one of four sets of multipliers for the round.

Feature triggers on Free games multipliers
Opening cascade X1, X2, X3, X5
2nd cascade X2, X3, X5, X7
3rd cascade X3, X5, X7, X10
4th or any later cascade X5, X7, X10, X15

Scatters land only in the base game, so once the round starts, no new Scatter can add to it, and the feature cannot be retriggered.

Free Game Bonus Payouts

Throughout the bonus round, the seven food symbols pay a bonus whenever they take part in a win, from 4x for the unagi bowl down to 0.8x for the sauced balls. Each combination collects its bonus once, and the current game multiplier is applied to it.

That means the dishes on this sushi counter of a food slot can pay twice from one combination, once as a line win and once as a bonus.

Crab Wild

The red crab with raised claws appears only on reels 2, 3, and 4, and it fills in for any other symbol, with the platter Scatter the exception. Nothing on the paytable belongs to it, so it earns by completing a line for another symbol.

How to Play

Cascade Rounds

A winning spin in Hey Sushi can keep going for several steps. The 25 fixed lines pay left to right, winning symbols make way for new and existing ones, and the bar at the top right lights the next multiplier with each new cascade until it reaches X5. Players who know The Legend of Musashi will recognise the idea, since its Monster Multiplier adds 1 per cascade and resets when the chain ends. Hey Sushi skips X4 on the way up and stops at X5 in regular play.

When a cascade brings no new win, the bar drops back to X1 and the next spin starts from scratch. Watch the Scatters during a long chain, because the step the bar has reached when the feature triggers is the step that sets the free games.

RTP

Hey Sushi pays back 96.75% over the long run. The 25 lines are fixed, so the only stake decision is how much to bet, and the bonus round is played at whatever stake set it off.

Symbol Pays

The largest figure on this table belongs to the platter Scatter, at 100x the stake for five anywhere, added to any line wins on the same spin. The best line is five unagi bowls at 30x. Figures read as stake multiples, and the crab Wild gets no row.

Symbol 3 4 5
Platter Scatter (anywhere) 1x 5x 100x
Unagi bowl 1x 10x 30x
Tuna nigiri 0.6x 8x 20x
Tamago nigiri 0.6x 5x 16x
Tempura prawns 0.6x 4x 12x
Fried pieces on a leaf 0.4x 3x 10x

A, K 0.2x 0.8x 3x
Q 0.2x 0.6x 2x
J, 10, 9 0.2x 0.4x 1x

The food symbols also have a bonus in the bonus round for each winning combination they’re part of, shown here before the game multiplier is applied.

Free games symbol Bonus per winning combination
Unagi bowl 4x
Tuna nigiri 2.8x
Tamago nigiri 2.4x
Tempura prawns 2x
Fried pieces on a leaf 1.6x
Temaki hand roll 1.2x
Sauced balls 0.8x

Ultimate Slots Verdict

The trigger-timed ladder defines Hey Sushi. Whichever cascade the free games trigger on, with three or more Scatters, sets their multipliers, from X1 to X5 on an opening trigger up to X5 to X15 from the fourth cascade on. It's a smart twist on a modest table, with five unagi bowls at 30x as the best line, and the lack of a retrigger keeps every round at 10 games.

3.8/5 Very Good

✓ What We Like

  • Whichever cascade the free games trigger on, with three or more Scatters, sets their multipliers, up to X5, X7, X10, and X15 from the fourth cascade or later.
  • The main-game multiplier climbs to X5 from the fourth cascade and resets when a cascade brings no new win.
  • Food symbols in a free games win add a bonus payout once per combination, multiplied by the current game multiplier.
  • Five Scatters pay 100x anywhere, on top of line wins.
  • Three or more Scatters always bring 10 free games, so there's no Scatter count to chase.

✗ What Could Be Better

  • The free games cannot be retriggered.
  • The crab Wild, on reels 2 to 4, earns nothing without a line to finish.
  • Five unagi bowls pay 30x, the best line on the table.

Detailed Review

Reviewing Habanero’s Hey Sushi

One idea lifts Hey Sushi to 3.8/5 in this review, and it outweighs a modest paytable. The game moves the real decision about its free games into the main game. The round is always 10 games long. What changes is the set of multipliers inside it, which can start at X1 or at X5 depending on which cascade set it off.

That ladder is the part of the design worth talking about. Habanero put the game out in June 2020. A trigger on the opening cascade gives X1, X2, X3, and X5, the same steps the main game already uses. A trigger on the fourth cascade or later starts the round at X5 and lets it climb to X15. The two middle ladders, X2 to X7 and X3 to X10, cover the triggers in between. The bonus is therefore tied to how far the main game’s chain has run, and the bar shows how far that chain has run before the feature triggers.

The weak points are easy to list. The feature cannot be retriggered, Scatters stop appearing once it starts, and the crab Wild pays nothing by itself, so five unagi bowls at 30x is the best a line can do. Even the frowning crab chef beside the reels looks as though he has heard the pitch before. The bar adds its own pressure, too. Seeing it step from X2 to X3 and then fall straight back to X1 after a dead cascade is the heart of Hey Sushi, and it works on the nerves. A bar that has just reset tells you nothing about the next spin, and it’s worth remembering that when the next chain feels close.

Habanero’s own top multiplier for the game is 1,217x, and the studio rates its volatility High. Set beside the table, that figure is modest. The Scatter’s 100x for five outranks every line pay and arrives on top of any line wins, which helps, but it’s still a single prize. That leaves the free games, with their food bonuses and a ladder that reaches X15 from a late trigger, as the part of the game with the most room to move. The food bonuses top out at 4x before the multiplier, but they’re paid on top of the line win and take the current step of the ladder, so a late trigger counts twice.

If you like a slot where the timing of a trigger matters more than the count, the free play here rewards watching the bar and the Scatters together. If you want retriggers, a big line symbol, or a Wild that pays, Hey Sushi will feel short.

Frequently Asked Questions

In Hey Sushi, the free games start when three or more Scatters appear, and the main-game cascade they appear on picks the four multipliers. An opening-cascade trigger gives X1, X2, X3, and X5, the second cascade gives X2, X3, X5, and X7, the third X3, X5, X7, and X10, and the fourth or any later cascade X5, X7, X10, and X15.
No. The feature cannot be retriggered, and Scatters appear only outside the free games, so the round stays at 10 games.
On the fourth cascade of a Hey Sushi round, the main-game multiplier reaches X5 and stays there while new wins keep coming. A cascade with no new win resets it to the starting value.
Yes. Each of the seven high symbols adds a bonus payout each time it features in a win, once per combination, from 4x for the unagi bowl to 0.8x for the sauced balls, and the current game multiplier is applied to it.
Reels 2 to 4 in Hey Sushi. It covers for any symbol bar the platter Scatter, though the paytable lists nothing for it.
