Ro$$ the cat and Maxx the mouse stand on either side of the RIP City slot’s grid, tagged in pink and green on the alley wall behind them, and each has a bonus round. Only the cat is also a symbol. Hacksaw Gaming lets that Wild Cat expand downward, so one landing on the bottom row is worth a single position while a cat that stops near the top turns the rest of its reel wild and takes a multiplier of 2x to 200x from any WILD it passes on the way down. A cat on the top row has four rows beneath it to find a WILD in. A cat one row up from the bottom has just the one.
A Wild Cat expands if that would complete a win, running from wherever it stopped to the foot of its reel. Each position it covers turns wild. A cat that joins no win, or that has already dropped to the last row, holds its place as one wild symbol. A cat that joins no win holds its place as a single wild, and so does one that lands on the bottom row with nothing beneath it. No reel takes more than one Wild Cat at a time. The whole grid only turns wild one way, which is 5 expanding wilds landing across the top row.
The green WILD substitutes as the cat does, and its second job settles how big a win gets. A Wild Cat expanding past a WILD swallows it, and the multiplier it leaves behind applies to that whole expanded cat. Multipliers run 2x to 10x in single steps, then 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x and a top of 200x.
Drop 3 FS scatters, the free-spins symbol, into one paid spin and the Ro$$ Bonus gives you 10 free spins to a round that makes Wild Cats and WILDs likelier than they are in ordinary play. Land 3 FS again mid-round for 4 extra spins. Hit 4 and the round turns into Maxx’s once that spin finishes, its count raised to 10 if fewer than 10 remain and left alone if more do.
Four FS scatters in one spin open Maxx’s round on a fresh 10 spins, and this one remembers. The first Wild Cat to hit a reel activates it, marked by a yellow arrow over that reel, and an activated reel then delivers a cat on every spin that follows. Activations build up, and with one cat the most any reel takes, a slow opening can finish delivering cats on all 5 reels unasked. Hit 3 FS here too and 4 more spins are added.
Reaching the maximum win is possible in either round and in ordinary play, and hitting it stops the round on the spot, discarding any spins still owed.
Getting in without waiting is 110x the bet for Ro$$ and 200x for Maxx, each a one-off payment from the bonus buy button that drops you straight into 10 spins.
Alongside them sit 3 more options that are modes, not purchases. Switch one on and it stays on until you press DISABLE, with the bet field showing what a spin now costs and the spin button turning orange.
RIP City prints a volatility label beside each mode on its buy menu, and 4 of the 5 read High while the one costing 20x reads Very high. Below them sits a theoretical return of 96.22%, worked out over 10,000,000,000 simulated rounds, which each of them nudges. BonusHunt gives 96.44%, the Maxx round 96.41%, the pair of Wild Cat modes 96.34% and 96.31%, and the Ro$$ round 96.2%. Operator versions at 94.27%, 92.32%, and 88.02% also exist.
Each of those labels belongs to a mode. The buy menu carries no such reading for ordinary play, so they describe what each setting does and leave the game itself unrated. Stakes run from €0.10 to €75.00 a spin, and switching a FeatureSpins mode on multiplies whichever level you have set.
The 19 lines read from reel 1, each paying its strongest combination and no more. Separate line wins draw in turn beneath a moving marker before adding into one round total. What matters before that happens is how multipliers combine, because they add and do not compound. A payline crossing 2 expanded cats that carry 3x and 4x pays at 7x, not 12x.

RIP City knows what it is built on and does not pretend otherwise. One symbol carries this game, and Hacksaw gave it a rule with consequences instead of a flat bonus. It scores just beneath Hacksaw's Hot Ross slot, because the newer game does that job with a third round, a second cat symbol and a 15,000x cap over this one's 12,500x. The presentation carries more of the case than the numbers do. Every price on that menu is quoted in cats rather than rows.
Watch a round of Maxx spins and the rule turns concrete. Our last spin there had cats on 4 reels and they were worth wildly different amounts. One sat on row 5 of reel 1 with nowhere to go, a wild position and no more. The other 3 had landed higher, one filling its reel from the top row and two covering three positions each, with a 4x on one of those. That spin paid €121.80 of the round’s €498.10.
The multiplier is what separates a decent spin from the ones you remember. Spin 7 of the Ro$$ round put 4 expanded cats on the grid at once with a 4x among them and returned €483.60 of that round’s €578.40, all from a €1.00 stake, more than 5 times what the other 9 spins managed between them. A cat expanding through a WILD does 2 jobs in one movement, covering positions and taking the 4x that scaled the line those positions completed.
Neither Wild Cat mode prices what matters. The 20x option guarantees at least 2 cats on every spin, and 50x guarantees 3, but no price specifies which row they arrive on. Our 50x spins filled the grid with cats regularly, and the best of them returned €356.80 from a €50.00 spin, but it still needed one to land near the top and take a 4x, which is the bit no price covers. That is 7.1x back on the spin, against the €483.6x a single €1.00 spin returned inside the Ro$$ round. Neither of our rounds was triggered, so every bonus figure in this review came off a purchase.
The 2 rounds take opposite approaches to one question. Ro$$ raises the odds and leaves the rest alone, which is why its €578.40 came as one spin plus a scattering of small change. Maxx builds. All but the middle reel activated over our 10 spins and started producing cats unprompted, so the €498.10 landed in steadier pieces. That middle reel never activated at all, because a reel activates only when a cat happens to drop on it, and none ever did.
None of this would land as well if the game were not so plainly enjoying itself. The logo is a cracked grave cross, R.I.P. along the arms and CITY down the upright, the two sharing an I where they meet. A piano line runs under all of it, jolly and upbeat, and it fits the cartoon exactly. Wins also pass through 4 named screens as the counter rises, opening with Maxx smoking several cigarettes at once under SMOKE ‘EM IF YOU GOT ‘EM, then Ro$$ squaring up with his fists raised, then the pair of them inside a brawl cloud for THIS JUST GOT REAL, punches landing on the soundtrack. The top screen has them battered and arm in arm with bottles in hand, asking why they cannot just get along.
Bonus intros keep the joke running by putting one of them out of the picture, Maxx asleep through the Ro$$ round, Ro$$ flat on his back with stars circling his head and a banana peel beside him through Maxx’s. Between spins Ro$$ dances on the spot and Maxx bounces where he stands, smoke rising off his cigarettes.
