Duel at Dawn is built around two mechanics. A VS symbol lands on the grid, the reel expands into a full wild column, and two silhouettes face each other across it, with the winner’s multiplier applied to every combination through that reel. The Outlaw feature takes a different approach, firing wilds from a revolver cylinder onto random grid positions, each with multipliers between 2x and 200x. Both features run through base play, with two bonus tiers that increase their frequency and help build toward the theoretical 15,000x maximum win.
When a VS symbol lands on the reels, it expands to cover the full column and becomes a wild. A duel plays out between the Outlaw and the Sheriff, each carrying a multiplier between 2x and 200x. The winner’s multiplier applies to every winning combination that passes through that reel. If two or more DuelReels form part of the same win, their multipliers are added together before being applied.
Outlaw symbols can land on any reel during regular play, up to two per spin and a maximum of one per reel. When an Outlaw appears, it expands into a full wild column and triggers a revolver holding between one and six bullets. Each bullet fires a wild onto a random position elsewhere on the grid. The Outlaw also carries a multiplier between 2x and 200x, applied to all connected wins. Note that VS and Outlaw symbols cannot land on the same spin.
The Outlaw expands across reel 3.
Landing three FS scatters triggers the Wild Wild West bonus with 10 free spins. VS and Outlaw symbols appear more frequently during the round than in regular play. Two additional scatters during the bonus award 2 extra spins, three additional scatters award 4.
Four FS scatters trigger the Dusk ‘Til Dawn bonus, also awarding 10 free spins. This round includes up to four DuelSpins with guaranteed VS symbols on the grid. The count escalates across DuelSpins, starting at two guaranteed VS symbols and increasing to three, four, then five. Retrigger rules match the Wild Wild West round.
Five buy-in options are available.
Buy-in RTPs range from 96.30% to 96.35%, barely differing from the base game’s 96.30%.
Duel at Dawn uses a 5×5 grid with 19 fixed paylines paying left to right. VS symbols expand into full wild columns with multipliers from 2x to 200x, while Outlaw symbols do the same and fire additional wilds onto random positions from a revolver cylinder. The standard wild is a flaming WILD icon that substitutes for all symbols and pays 10x for five of a kind.
Stakes start at €0.10 and scale up to €100.00 for regular spins, with feature buys that can exceed the standard maximum.

A 595x win from three simultaneous DuelReels inside a single Dusk 'Til Dawn spin pulled our entire session into profit. Duel at Dawn is Hacksaw Gaming's leanest take on the DuelReel system, a 5×5 Western slot where VS and Outlaw symbols carry the entire weight across two bonus tiers and a 96.30% RTP.
The Western setting is loaded with a desert backdrop, the sunrise bleeding across rock formations and cacti, and a low instrumental score that sits underneath every spin. It is not the loudest Hacksaw production, and that restraint works in its favour. Symbols read clean against the grid. Sheriff badges, bull skulls, crossed revolvers, a wagon wheel on the high end, and card suits on the low.
The third spin of the demo produced the first VS symbol. The reel expanded, the silhouettes squared off, and a 10x multiplier landed on the Outlaw’s side. That converted to a €13.50 win at the €1.00 bet, three spins into the session. Regular play kept delivering VS and Outlaw activations at a pace that held the grid’s attention. Most multipliers fell between 3x and 10x, enough to push payline wins above their printed values without creating large isolated spikes.
The Wild Wild West buy-in at 100x returned €25.90 in our session. Ten free spins with increased VS and Outlaw frequency, but nothing aligned across the same paylines at the right moment. The Dusk ‘Til Dawn buy at 200x told a different story. On the second DuelSpin, three VS symbols appeared simultaneously, each expanding into a wild column carrying its own multiplier. The combined total hit 14x across the connected lines, resulting in a €595x win on a single spin. The round finished at €722.40, well above the €200 entry price.
The Dusk Til Dawn bonus delivers its peak moment.
Placed alongside some of Hacksaw’s other Wild West titles, Duel at Dawn reads as a streamlined entry. 2 Wild 2 Die runs a Revolver system that fires bullets at random positions, turning hits into wilds and double-hits into multipliers, sustained by a three-life counter that keeps its bonus alive as long as new symbols appear. Epic Bullets and Bounty shares the DuelReel engine but adds Bounty VS chains that compound multipliers across consecutive duels and a three-tier bonus with a gamble upgrade. Duel at Dawn drops both of those layers. Most of the session’s value came from a single spin where three VS symbols landed together and their multipliers combined across the same paylines. The system is simple enough that one good alignment can carry an entire session, and in ours it did.
