Out of the Woods Overview

Pink and orange light falls through the redwoods, and four campers in animal hats are running. What they’re running from is a wooden owl totem taller than the trees, with its eyes lit from inside, and Out of the Woods spends most of its art budget on that one image. The royals are traps somebody left in these woods: a bear trap, a snare, a plank, a birdhouse, a ladder propped against nothing. Pragmatic Play doesn’t often reach for folk horror, and this slot reaches hard. Then the pay table opens, and the arithmetic is much quieter than the artwork. The multiplier wild never lands alone. It covers a complete reel, or it doesn’t show up at all: four positions of blue orbs running bottom to top, carrying 1x, 2x, 3x and 4x in that order. It substitutes for everything on the reels except the moon scatter.

The Stack Slides Down

Land that column, produce a win with it, and the reels respin. The stack shifts down at least one position, fresh orbs fill the space above it, and every multiplier climbs by 1x for each position the stack travelled. Keep winning, and it keeps repeating.

Gold-rimmed orbs behave differently at the bottom. When one sits on the last row and the next respin would push it off the screen, the stack moves down a random distance instead, no fewer than two positions and no more than ten, and every one of those positions adds another +1x.

The Round Where the Multipliers Keep What They Earned

Three, four or five moon scatters award 10, 15 or 20 free spins. The first stack inside the round opens at the usual 1x to 4x. Every stack after it starts from the highest multiplier the round has already produced, placed at the top of the column, and nothing clears between spins. A 9x reached on spin two is still the floor on spin nine.

Wins land on 21.69% of spins, about one in every 4.61, so the standard round ticks along rather than going flat. The free spins are a different story, appearing roughly once every 300 spins. That’s a long time to watch four campers run, and the honest risk here is that the woods stop registering somewhere before the feature arrives. A theme can carry a straightforward format a long way, which is the same reason Haunted Crypt holds up, and this forest is drawn well enough to buy more patience than most.
