Pink and orange light falls through the redwoods, and four campers in animal hats are running. What they’re running from is a wooden owl totem taller than the trees, with its eyes lit from inside, and Out of the Woods spends most of its art budget on that one image. The royals are traps somebody left in these woods: a bear trap, a snare, a plank, a birdhouse, a ladder propped against nothing. Pragmatic Play doesn’t often reach for folk horror, and this slot reaches hard. Then the pay table opens, and the arithmetic is much quieter than the artwork. Twenty-five lines, five reels, four rows, and a best line pay of 24x your total stake.
So the wilds have to carry it. Nothing else on these reels pays enough to change a session on its own, which is why the blue multiplier orbs get everything the designers had left. Strip the forest away, and you’ve played this format before. The forest doesn’t strip away, though, and that’s most of why the trade holds.
The multiplier wild never lands alone. It covers a complete reel, or it doesn’t show up at all: four positions of blue orbs running bottom to top, carrying 1x, 2x, 3x and 4x in that order. It substitutes for everything on the reels except the moon scatter.
Land that column, produce a win with it, and the reels respin. The stack shifts down at least one position, fresh orbs fill the space above it, and every multiplier climbs by 1x for each position the stack travelled. Keep winning, and it keeps repeating.
Gold-rimmed orbs behave differently at the bottom. When one sits on the last row and the next respin would push it off the screen, the stack moves down a random distance instead, no fewer than two positions and no more than ten, and every one of those positions adds another +1x.
Three, four or five moon scatters award 10, 15 or 20 free spins. The first stack inside the round opens at the usual 1x to 4x. Every stack after it starts from the highest multiplier the round has already produced, placed at the top of the column, and nothing clears between spins. A 9x reached on spin two is still the floor on spin nine.
Special reels run throughout the feature. Hitting three, four or five scatters again during the round adds another 10, 15 or 20 spins, the full ladder again rather than a token handful.
Ante Bet lifts the stake multiplier from 25x to 125x and puts the free spins within reach roughly twelve times more often. The buys are blunter. A hundred times your total bet triggers the feature outright, and five hundred buys the Super version, whose opening stack lands at 10x, 11x, 12x and 13x rather than 1x to 4x.
Super Spin sits apart from all of that. It guarantees one full stack of multiplier wilds on every single spin, and it stops the free spins triggering at all while it’s switched on. The button that looks like the fastest route to the feature is the one that puts it out of reach.
Wins land on 21.69% of spins, about one in every 4.61, so the standard round ticks along rather than going flat. The free spins are a different story, appearing roughly once every 300 spins. That’s a long time to watch four campers run, and the honest risk here is that the woods stop registering somewhere before the feature arrives. A theme can carry a straightforward format a long way, which is the same reason Haunted Crypt holds up, and this forest is drawn well enough to buy more patience than most. Nobody’s patience is infinite.
The multiplier wild can’t turn up in ones and twos here, so what you’re watching for on any spin is a whole reel going blue at once. Everything else runs on ordinary line rules, paying outward from reel one over touching reels, one win per line at the highest value, with separate line wins added together across all 25.
Stakes open at $0.25, and holding the space bar switches the reels to turbo. Free play carries the identical numbers, which is enough to learn how often a stack keeps going. If a 25-line forest slot with one headline feature sounds familiar, the older Pixies of the Forest demo covers similar ground at a gentler pace.
Standard play returns 96.52%, the strongest figure available. Ante Bet, Super Spin and the 100x free spins purchase each return 96.50%, and the 500x Super Free Spins buy is 96.49%. The info panel shows which setting is live.
These values come from the info screen at the $2.00 stake used for this review, and the Owl Wild pays the same as the highest premium symbol.
| Owl wild on a line | Pays at $2.00 stake |
|---|---|
| 5 | $48.00 |
| 4 | $9.60 |
| 3 | $3.20 |
That top row is 24x your total stake, which is why the multiplier column carries so much weight. The blue orbs pay on the same table, so a full stack landing on a paying line is where the larger figures come from. Any feature reaching 10,000x your bet ends immediately and pays out there.
