Le Viking slot pays back 96.32%, the highest return in the Le series so far, and it opens 5 separate routes into a feature. What it gives up is size. Its 10,000x cap is one of the smallest in the Le series, half of what Le King and Le Santa offer. Hacksaw also swaps the golden squares and the rainbow of the other Le games for coins that turn up on the open reels, and 6 of them at once put Smokey straight into the Raid Spins re-spins.
The strip above the reels lays out the coin values, bronze through diamond, and it’s up there from your first spin. Coins arrive in the main game in bronze, silver and gold, a diamond sits rarer than any of them, and each one holds a value it keeps hidden to the last. Land 6 coins of any kind on one spin and the beach turns to night, the paying symbols disappear, and you are in a hold and win played on the grid you were just spinning.
Raid Spins gives you 3 lives. Every re-spin costs one, and any coin, diamond or clover that lands puts all 3 back. Miss 3 times running, with nothing but the animal skulls the game uses as dead symbols, and the raid is over. Everything you catch sticks where it fell, so even a slow raid builds a hoard. When the last life goes, the coins and diamonds turn over at once and show what each one holds.
Two clovers land alongside the coins, in the raid and in the free spins alike, and they go to work once the values are showing. A green clover multiplies the squares it touches, so a bronze revealing €4 beside a x10 green clover turns into €40. A gold clover reaches every coin and diamond on the board at once.
Each draws from x2, x3, x4, x5, x10 and x20, so a gold clover at x20 turns a single €500 diamond into €10,000, which is the cap reached by one symbol and one clover. Neither clover showed up in our session.
The mushroom-topped FS scatters open the bonus, and how many land decides which round you get. Three of them bring Berserk, four Valkyrie, five Ragnarök and six Journey to Valhalla.
The scatters don’t vanish once they’ve done their job. Each one leaves a grid multiplier stamped on the square where it fell, sticky for as long as the round runs. It pays on that one square, so a coin has to come down on top of it to gain anything.
A bronze coin revealing €2 on a x5 square pays €10; the identical coin on a square to its left pays €2. Berserk leaves 3 of them at x2, Valkyrie 4 at x3, Ragnarök 5 at x5 and Journey to Valhalla 6 at x10. Valhalla also pulls the bronze and silver coins out of the reel set, so only gold and diamonds can drop.
Every free spins round starts you on the same 3 lives the raid gives you, and it adds two symbols the raid never sees. A heart increases your maximum by 1, up to 5, and stops appearing once you’re full.
A magic cauldron does the collecting. When one lands, every grid multiplier and clover on the board fires, so a gold coin worth €25 sitting on a x5 square becomes €125, while a gold on a bare square stays at €25. The cauldron then sweeps in every coin, diamond and older cauldron and holds the lot, a newer cauldron swallows whatever the last one held, and the final one pays out when the round finishes. Each cauldron collects once, and none of them can land on a square a grid multiplier already owns.
Six reels, 5 rows, and no wild anywhere in the game. Matching symbols pay from the leftmost reel across adjacent columns, 3 of them minimum, and every combination of positions counts as its own way. One axe on each of the 6 reels is a single way; a second axe on reel 2 makes it 2 ways, each one paid. Cover all 30 squares with the same symbol and you have all 15,625.
Six hammers, the top symbol, pay 3.00 at our €1 stake, and the bow and the helmet at the foot of the premium tier pay 1.50 for six of their own. Stakes run €0.20 to €100. The 10,000x cap ends a round the moment it’s reached, and any spins left in it are lost.
| Mode | Cost at €1 | RTP |
|---|---|---|
| Regular spins | €1 | 96.32% |
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins | €3 | 96.35% |
| Raider FeatureSpins | €30 | 96.27% |
| Berserk Free Spins | €100 | 96.29% |
| Ragnarök Free Spins | €200 | 96.29% |
The two FeatureSpins rows work differently from the buys. You switch them on and pay their price on every spin until you switch them off. That’s €3 a spin for BonusHunt, which multiplies a spin’s chance of a bonus by 5, or €30 a spin for Raider, which turns each spin into a raid with the FS scatters taken out. Berserk and Ragnarök are one-off purchases. Valkyrie and Journey to Valhalla cannot be bought at all.

The trade is clear. Le Viking suits players who like being in a feature, and it puts a price on 3 of the 5 it has: the raid, Berserk and Ragnarök. Journey to Valhalla, has no buy button, and neither does Valkyries. The RTP leads the series, the raid is its best idea, and Smokey has rarely looked better dressed. Where it stops short is the far end, with only a 10,000x maximum win, and the one round built to reach it is the one round with no buy button. That balance earns 3.8, just under its siblings.
The craft is Hacksaw at full strength, and the artwork shows it. Regular Raid Spins play out on the base reels rather than a separate screen, so you never leave the grid you were already watching. The buy menu sits alongside it, all 5 modes within 0.08% of each other and nothing made to look cheaper than it is.
Berserk at 100x and Ragnarök at 200x are as far up as the buy menu reaches. The round above them, Journey to Valhalla, with its x10 multipliers and gold-only reels, needs 6 scatters on one spin and has no buy button, so plenty of sessions will end without it. There’s no wild either, which is why even 6 hammers across the grid only pay 3 times the stake.
The raccoon has a ginger beard, a horned helmet and a wooden sword, and he watches every spin from a beach that Hacksaw has clearly enjoyed drawing. A longship with a dragon prow sits in the shallows, huts and mountains fill the right, arrows are buried in the timber frame around the reels, and each symbol is something a Norseman would take to sea. It is the kind of Viking scene you’ve seen fifty times, drawn better than most.
The artwork also tracks the game. Land your 6 coins and the sky over the settlement goes dark, with a campfire lit at the water’s edge. Take the scatters instead, and you’re out at sea on the longship, lightning comes down, Smokey’s eyes turn red, and the music changes with them. The loop we nearly muted ends up doing a job.
Raid Spins is the round everything else feeds into. Our first one showed why: the lives refilled 6 times over, coins kept sticking, and the grid filled up while Smokey leaned in from the side. It paid €30.20 at a €1 stake. A spin later, 3 scatters brought Berserk. It ran 13 spins, landed 4 coins, not one of them on a x2 square, and a silver €15 with 3 bronze €1s beside it for a total of €18.
Where a coin falls decides what it pays, and our bought Ragnarök put a figure on that. 22 spins turned up 18 coins, a gold €25 among them, but only 4 came down on Ragnarök’s five x5 squares.
At face value, the 18 came to €61. Those 4 carried the round to €109, still €91 under what the buy cost. A grid stacked with coins in the wrong squares finishes nowhere near a Le King jackpot or a Le Pharaoh rainbow. We rank both of those above Le Viking for that reason. The free demo is the cheapest way to see whether you agree with our Le series order.
