Hot Hot Halloween Basics

Row 3 pays x3 in Hot Hot Halloween. Habanero gives this 5×5 slot five horizontal pay rows instead of paylines, and each row has its own fixed multiplier: x1, x2, x3, x2, and x1 from top to bottom. A win on the middle row is tripled, the two rows next to it are doubled, and the top and bottom rows pay the table as it stands.
A purple haunted house fills the space behind the reels, its arched windows lit and a big orange moon hanging behind the left tower. Dripping white candles line the stone walls. Two stone pillars frame the grid, each carrying a red HOT HOT banner with bat wings above a tall pink-red “Halloween”, and the row multipliers are cut into the inner strips beside orange letters spelling H, O, T. The symbols are a cartoon set: a horned Seven, a skull coffin, a dripping eyeball, a cyan ghost, and a green zombie hand, with a gold star and four sweets below them.
What’s in the Demo
Row Multipliers
Rows 1 and 5 pay x1, rows 2 and 4 pay x2, and row 3 pays x3. Pays from separate rows are summed, so one spin can win on several rows, each at its own rate. The paytable lists every value before the row multiplier, so row 3, at x3, is where its figures grow fastest.
Nothing has to trigger them, so a plain three-symbol row on the middle line counts for more than the same row at the top.
Hot Hot Doubling
On any spin, at random, the Hot Hot feature can upgrade symbols already on screen. A Wild or any paying symbol apart from the Seven can turn into a doubled version, two copies of the icon overlapping, and then counts as 2 symbols in its row. The Seven can go one further and become a triple, three horned 7s side by side, counting as 3 symbols. That is why the paytable’s counts run past the number of reels, to 10 for most symbols and 15 for the Seven.
Wild-Pattern Free Games

Wilds open the free games, and where they land decides how many you get. Three or more Wilds reading in from one edge, with at least a Wild and a Double Wild on reels 1 and 2, or on reels 4 and 5, give 6 free games. Cover both edges at once, and the count rises to 12. The stake stays where it was when the round began, and the round can’t be retriggered.

Locking Symbols
Wins within the free games hold on to their symbols. Each symbol that forms part of a win stays fixed until the round ends, excluding wins on the triggering spin, and a held symbol can still double or triple up, keeping that upgrade for the games that are left.
As many as 24 symbols can end up held, and the order they lock in is random.
That allowance is the clearest change from Hot Hot Fruit, where up to 14 symbols can lock in its free games. Here, a symbol held on row 3 stays on the row that pays x3 for every game that remains.
Pumpkin Wilds
A carved jack-o’-lantern with a purple bow and a red WILD ribbon serves as the Wild, and the single version only appears on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5. Its Double Wild partner shows two pumpkins side by side. Both substitute for all symbols, yet neither pays, and a row needs at least one non-Wild symbol in the combination to win.
How to Play
Slot RTP
96.66% is the return on this Habanero Halloween slot, and Habanero grades its volatility Very High. The demo’s stakes start at 0.20 and go to 5,000 a spin, with the coin count fixed at 20 whatever the bet.
Five Paying Rows
Every row on the 5×5 grid is read as a line of its own. Adjacent matching symbols in a row form a win, and any combination with at least one non-Wild symbol in it pays. A win needs three symbols or more, which is where every column of the paytable starts. Three coffins on row 1 and three on row 3 read the same column, and only the row multiplier separates them.
Counting is where Hot Hot Halloween differs from a standard line game. A doubled symbol counts as 2 and a tripled Seven as 3, so the count the paytable uses is the number of symbols the icons represent, not the number of reel positions they cover. A row showing a few doubled coffins can therefore pay further along the coffin’s column than its cells alone suggest.
The row multiplier comes last. Each row’s pay is taken from the table, then multiplied by x1, x2, or x3 depending on where it landed, and the pays from different rows combine into one result. In free play, the quickest way to read a result is to find the row first and the symbol count second.
Demo Paytable
Counts run from 3 to 10, and on to 15 for the Seven, because doubled and tripled icons count as more than one symbol. Read the figures as x the total bet, before the row multiplier, from x1 to x3, applies. Neither Wild appears in the table, since neither pays. The Seven’s figures climb hardest at the top end, from 200x for 14 to 1,250x for 15, while the skull coffin leads everything else at 75x for 10.

Ultimate Slots Verdict
A 3.9 out of 5 for the roomiest version of the Hot Hot idea on this site.
Five paying rows with fixed multipliers put real weight on the middle line, and a free-games round can hold up to 24 symbols from wins after the trigger, each still able to double or triple. The Wilds pay nothing and the round can't be retriggered, so the doubling and the locks carry the game. They carry it well, and the Halloween set gives it a cheerful face.

Detailed Review
Habanero’s Hot Hot Halloween Reviewed
24 is the number that sets this one apart. That’s how many symbols can lock once the free games start, and on a 5×5 board with a tripled centre row, it gives the round plenty of room to build. The look suits it too, a candy-bright haunted house and a horned, googly-eyed Seven that reads as mischievous rather than frightening, so the Halloween dressing stays playful.
It has soft spots. The Wilds pay nothing themselves, the free games can’t be retriggered, and the Hot Hot doubling arrives at random, so the Seven’s longest counts come down to chance. Rows 1 and 5 pay the table at x1, which leaves two of the five rows doing ordinary work. Habanero released the slot in October 2019 and puts the game’s top multiplier at 3,756x. The pull of the free games is watching held symbols pile up on the board while the number of games left ticks down, and that pull is the hook that keeps you leaning in for the next spin.
Against Hot Hot Fruit, this is the version to pick. The random Hot Hot doubling and the Wild-pattern trigger come across intact, but the five paying rows, the x3 middle row, and the room for 24 held symbols give the formula more to work with. The plain outer rows and the payless Wilds hold this review’s score under 4, yet the free games here have far more board to fill, and that is the difference a fan of the series will notice first.
