Sugar Rush Xmas uses the same 7×7 board, the same 96.50% RTP, and the same 5,000x cap as the original; Pragmatic Play only changed the weather. Snow covers every gummy bear, the lollipops wear frost, and the logo wears a Santa hat.
Underneath, the demo follows the same rules as the original Sugar Rush. Clusters of 5 or more pay, winners explode and tumble away, and any position that clears twice starts doubling, from x2 up to x128. If you know the series, you know this slot. If you don’t, the rule to carry in is that a position on the board is worth more than the symbol sitting on it: a spot that has doubled to x8 pays any cluster touching it at eight times its table value.
The Sugar Rush series is the logical place to start the comparison. Sugar Rush is the template, and this is its winter reskin, rule for rule and value for value. Sugar Rush 1000 pushes the cap and the multiplier scale higher, and Sugar Rush Super Scatter adds a second scatter type. Pick Xmas over the original for the art; the paytable, the 100x buy and the 5,000x limit are identical.
A winning symbol explodes and leaves a mark on its position. The mark does nothing the first time. When a second win explodes on the same spot, the spot gets an x2, and every further explosion on it doubles the figure, up to x128. The multiplier applies to any winning cluster that touches the spot, and when a cluster covers several marked spots, the game adds their multipliers together before paying. In standard play, the marks last only as long as the tumble sequence; the moment the board settles with no new win, they clear. Grey marks scattered across the middle reels with one gold-lit x2 among them pay double on any cluster touching that one spot and table value everywhere else.
Five or more matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically form a win; diagonals don’t count. Winning symbols vanish, the symbols above drop into the gaps, and new ones fill from the top, repeating until nothing pays. There’s no wild anywhere on the reels, so every cluster has to come from the seven candy symbols alone, and that is the main reason a full 7×7 board can still settle with no win.
Three to seven candy-jar scatters anywhere on the board start the round, 10 free spins for three scatters and 30 for seven. Inside the round, the marks stop clearing. Every spot that has doubled holds its multiplier to the end of the feature, and further explosions keep doubling it. A board with x32 and x64 on neighbouring positions pays an ordinary cluster that touches both at x96. Three or more scatters inside the round add the same 10 to 30 spins again, and the reels run on a special strip set for the duration. The game stops any round, bought or natural, at 5,000x the bet; whatever free spins remain at that point are lost.
The Buy Free Spins plaque on the left prices the round at 100x the total bet, $200 at the $2 stake. A bought round draws its scatter count at random, anywhere from 3 to 7, so the spin count is a lottery between 10 and 30. The return stays at 96.50% whether you buy or wait for the trigger.
A grey mark under a symbol pays nothing on its own. The position needs a second explosion before it shows x2, so six grey marks and no gold is a board at table value. A cluster on a x2 spot pays double, a cluster that covers two of them pays x4, and a cluster on a clean patch pays the table figure and nothing more. In standard play the marks clear when a tumble sequence ends, so the count restarts every spin and only runs on inside free spins. The left-hand panel does the maths; it lists every cluster in the sequence with its cash value, and the total posts once the tumbling stops.

The jump between 9 and 10 symbols doubles most rows, and the jump from 14 to 15 does it again, so the table rewards the two or three extra symbols a tumble adds far more than the first five. The scatter carries no value of its own; it only counts towards the trigger.
Pragmatic Play released Sugar Rush Xmas in November 2023 as the original Sugar Rush with snow on it, rule for rule and value for value. The frosted art makes the multiplier spots easier to read, which helps in a game about positions, but the 96.50% RTP, the 100x buy and the 5,000x cap all stay where they were.

That is the top of a single spot, and it’s the figure the whole design points at, because the 5,000x cap only comes into view when several spots near that level sit under one large cluster inside free spins. What the winter art adds is legibility. Against the rest of Pragmatic Play’s cluster range, it sits mid-table for risk. Sweet Bonanza pays anywhere on the screen and needs no adjacency; Sugar Rush asks for touching symbols, which leaves its standard spins emptier and its free spins heavier. Sugar Rush 1000 exists for players who find the 5,000x cap low, and that is a fair reading of this one, a 100x buy for a round that can land as few as 10 spins with the cap a long way off. Most spot-multiplier games reset between spins; the persistent marks in free spins are what the series does better than its imitators.
The tension is honest. Grey marks pile up across the middle reels and clear the moment the board settles, and a tumble run that stops one win short of turning a mark into an x2 is the routine way a spin ends.
