Demo Overview

Three pots bubble on the stove, each labelled with one of three promises. The chef lurks on reels 2, 3, and 4, ready to expand and nudge when a winning combination crosses his reel. That surface simplicity is deceptive. Big Hot Flaming Pots Tasty Treasures, developed by Light & Wonder’s Lightning Box studio, is built around one of the more structurally unusual bonus systems in the Hold and Win category, one where seven distinct feature paths branch from three coloured Scatter symbols landing in any combination. The free play demo is the right place to make sense of how the Stack N’ Hit mechanic actually resolves before committing real stakes. Have a go!

How the Slot Works

The Wild Chef

The chef is the Wild symbol and appears only on reels 2, 3, and 4. He substitutes for all symbols except the three coloured Scatter symbols and the dumpling (bun) symbol. When he lands as part of a winning combination, he nudges to cover all positions on his reel. That expanded Wild can then nudge further to maximise the winning combinations it touches.

Stack N’ Hit: Trigger and Setup

Before every base game spin, a number of reel positions are pre-replaced with a random Scatter symbol drawn from the three types: green (Yummy), purple (Spicy), and red (Upsized). Landing 1, 2, or 3 Scatter symbols of any type may trigger the Stack N’ Hit feature. Landing 4 or more Scatter symbols guarantees it. The feature type and number of spins awarded depend on which colours appear.

The seven possible combinations and their starting spin counts are shown in the table below.

Triggering Scatters Feature Awarded Starting Spins
Green only Yummy Feature 4
Purple only Spicy Feature 3
Red only Upsized Feature 3
Green and Purple only Yummy Spicy Feature 4
Green and Red only Yummy Upsized Feature 4
Purple and Red only Spicy Upsized Feature 3
Green, Purple and Red Yummy Spicy Upsized Feature 4

When a feature triggers, all Scatter symbols on the grid transform into bun (dumpling) symbols and retain their prize values. Additional buns are then randomly placed to bring the total count to between 3 and 10 before the first spin.

Stack N’ Hit: How the Feature Plays

During the feature, only bun symbols and (in Spicy variants) strawberry symbols can land on the grid. All triggering buns are held in place. Any new bun or strawberry that lands on a subsequent spin is also held and resets the spin counter to the starting total for that grid. When all positions in a column are filled with held symbols, the prizes displayed on those symbols are awarded, the column clears, and a fire marker activates above it. Clearing all five columns activates all five fire markers, which awards the GRAND jackpot for that grid.

Two retrigger rules apply. If the feature was triggered with the green (Yummy) Scatter and no bun or strawberry lands on a grid for the first 4 spins, 4 additional spins are awarded for that grid. If the feature was triggered without the green Scatter, the same condition over 3 spins awards 3 additional spins.

The Spicy Modifier (Strawberry)

Strawberry symbols are only available when the feature was triggered with the purple (Spicy) Scatter. The strawberry displays a prize value drawn from the MINOR or MINI range. When it lands, its prize is added to the prize displayed on every bun symbol currently held on its grid. At the end of the spin it transforms into a bun and retains its value, behaving as a bun from that point.

The Upsized Modifier (Second Grid)

If the feature was triggered with the red (Upsized) Scatter, the feature plays across two separate grids labelled Feature 1 and Feature 2. All triggering buns are held in place on both grids. Each grid spins independently but shares the same spin count. The GRAND jackpot can only be won on a grid where all five fire markers are activated.

Different Jackpots Explained

The game has four jackpot tiers. MINI and MINOR are fixed prizes that are not multiplied by the bet and do not contribute to a progressive pool. Higher bet multipliers increase the values of MINI and MINOR. MAJOR and GRAND are progressive jackpots seeded and built from player wagers. Each bet contributes 0.35% to the MAJOR pool and 0.4% to the GRAND pool. When won, each resets before any additional prizes in the same round are awarded. MAJOR re-seeds at 80,000 credits and can be awarded more than once per grid in a single round, with any subsequent award paying the seed value. GRAND re-seeds at 500,000 credits and can only be won once per grid. A subsequent GRAND on the same grid in the same round pays the seed value. MINI, MINOR, and MAJOR may appear during the base game and during the Stack N’ Hit feature. GRAND is exclusive to the Stack N’ Hit feature. Progressive jackpot prizes cannot be won in demo mode.

Bun Prize Values

Bun and strawberry prizes are drawn from a predefined set. At minimum bet, the available credit values are: 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 50, 62, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200, and 250. Strawberry prizes are drawn from the MINOR and MINI ranges only. The distribution of prizes across buns and Scatter symbols shifts with the active bet option.

How to Play

Symbol Values & Rules

The game uses 243 ways to win in standard play. Wins form on adjacent reels left to right starting from reel 1. All wins are multiplied by the bet multiplier. Only the highest win per combination is paid. All paytable values below are shown as multipliers of the bet.

Symbol 5 of a Kind 4 of a Kind 3 of a Kind
Zongzi (leaf parcel) 37x 10x 5x
Salmon roll 25x 5x 3x
Taco / Dumpling 25x 5x 3x
Onion 10x 3x 2x
Star anise 10x 3x 2x
A 4x 2x 1x
K 4x 2x 1x
Q 4x 2x 1x
J 4x 2x 1x
9 4x 2x 1x
8 4x 2x 1x

Bets run from $0.44 to $55. The Reel Ways bet option is available at bet 44. In Reel Ways mode, winning combinations may contain only one symbol from each adjacent reel starting from the leftmost, meaning the same symbol appearing multiple times on one reel creates separate combinations rather than counting as a single win. All Reel Ways pays are also multiplied by the bet multiplier, and only the highest win per combination is paid. The pots and fire markers visible above the reels in the base game are noted in the rules as a presentation element and do not affect the outcome of any spin.

Frequently Asked Questions

The two grids in the Upsized Feature share the same spin count. A new bun or strawberry landing on either grid resets the counter for both. However, the column-filling and fire marker progress on each grid is tracked independently, so one grid can reach the GRAND condition while the other has not.
No. The GRAND jackpot is exclusive to the Stack N' Hit feature and is only awarded when all five fire markers above a grid have been activated by clearing all five columns. The MINI, MINOR, and MAJOR jackpots can appear in the base game as well as during the feature.
Both reset immediately before any additional prizes are paid in the same round. MAJOR re-seeds at 80,000 credits and can be won more than once per grid in a single round, with subsequent awards paying the seed value rather than the accumulated total. GRAND re-seeds at 500,000 credits and can only be won once per grid per round. A second GRAND on the same grid pays the seed value.
