Octoplay’s Outlaw Rails: Hold & Win Demo

Skulls hang from a rope above the reels of Outlaw Rails: Hold & Win, with a brass lantern resting on a heap of gold coins between them, and a desert canyon at sunset stretches behind the reels. Look under that rope, and you can see the whole robbery before you press spin. Four Prize Trains each have a reel of their own, their own wagon prizes and their own jackpot, from the Gold Train’s 500x Maxi on reel 1 to the Blue Train’s 10x Mini on reel 5, and only the two Outlaw Collectors on reel 3 can take them.
The setting is a Wild West train robbery in a desert canyon, with saguaro cacti on both sides, and a wooden shack and railway track behind the reels. The title screen shows a canyon at night in red and purple light. The bearded outlaw wears a battered dark wide-brimmed hat and a long brown coat, and the red-haired outlaw beside him fires a long silver gun. Down on the reels, wood-grain J, Q, K, and A letters share the grid with silver coins, a six-pointed sheriff star, a sack of gold nuggets, and a stack of gold bars, while the Wild is an orange W with purple feathered wings and a pale skull underneath. Octoplay released this slot in September 2026.
Slot Features
Prize Trains

Each train is a 2×1 Locomotive with Wagons attached. The Wagons carry coin prizes, and the Locomotive awards a jackpot. Each colour can land only on its own reel. A train’s wagons are easy to spot, square tiles in a gold frame with a coloured inner border and a gold value over a pile of coins, joined down the reel by a gold rod.
| Train | Reel | Wagon prizes | Locomotive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | 1 | 5x, 7x, 10x | Maxi 500x |
| Red | 2 | 3x, 5x, 7x | Major 50x |
| Purple | 4 | 2x, 3x, 5x | Minor 25x |
| Blue | 5 | 1x, 2x, 3x | Mini 10x |
A train only pays when an Outlaw Collector lands on reel 3 on the spin it arrives. Then, its rewards are collected, depending on which Wagon and Locomotive symbols are on the reels. The trains use reels 1, 2, 4, and 5, leaving reel 3 to the robbers.
Two Outlaws
Both Collectors land on reel 3 and nowhere else, and they don’t work the same way. The Female Outlaw Collector can land up to 3 per spin in normal play, or up to 5 per spin in Hold & Win, and she collects all the Train Prizes symbols that land. The Male Outlaw Collector can land once per spin, and he multiplies the total prize he collects by 3x. That makes him the one to hope for when the Gold Train rolls in on reel 1.
Jackpots follow the same law. A Locomotive’s Mini, Minor, Major, or Maxi is only won if an Outlaw Collector is on the reels to collect it, so a gold locomotive on its own pays nothing, though it still throws a coin at the pile and can set off Hold & Win.
Hold & Win on 5×5
Hold & Win starts when 4 or more Wagon or Locomotive symbols land together with 1 or more Outlaw Collectors. Outside the bonus, each Wagon or Locomotive that lands also throws a coin at the pile above the reels and has a chance to trigger the feature. The heap’s size is only decoration and doesn’t affect that chance.
Once it starts, the grid grows to 5×5 and you get 3 spins. Each time an Outlaw Collector or a Wagon lands, the count resets to the maximum. Only Outlaw Collectors, Wagons, Locomotives, and empty symbols appear on the reels during the round. A Locomotive that lands pays its jackpot and deactivates that reel. The round ends when all four train reels are deactivated, or when the spins reach 0 and no more Wagons or Collectors land.
How to Play
Robbers on Reel 3
Watch reel 3 before anything else, because it’s the only place either outlaw can land. The Female Outlaw Collector can appear up to 3 per spin outside the bonus and takes every Train Prizes symbol that lands. The Male Outlaw Collector can appear once per spin and triples what he collects. Reel 3 also shows ordinary symbols like the rest of the grid, so it counts toward line wins too. The game pays those on ten lines, left to right, with each win starting on reel 1 and running through neighbouring reels. The Wild substitutes for all other symbols except Locomotive and Wagon symbols, and it only has a pay of its own for five on a line, at 50x.
Slot RTP
Stakes start at €0.10 and stop at €150 per spin, and the RTP is 95.70%. The Hold & Win buy is set at 95.85%, while Hold & Win Chance 2x and 5x mean a higher stake per spin and are set at 95.78% and 95.76%. Either Chance mode adds to the total bet for as long as it is switched on.
Game Paytable
Gold bars lead the regular symbols at 30x for five, ahead of the sack of gold nuggets at 15x, and the four letters split into two pairs, with A and K paying 3x for five and Q and J 2x. The Wild’s row has a five only, and the trains and outlaws have no row because they pay through collection.
| Symbol | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wild | – | – | 50x |
| Gold bars | 3x | 6x | 30x |
| Sack of gold nuggets | 1.5x | 3x | 15x |
| Sheriff star | 1x | 2x | 10x |
| Silver coins | 0.5x | 1x | 5x |
| A | 0.3x | 0.6x | 3x |
| K | 0.3x | 0.6x | 3x |
| Q | 0.2x | 0.5x | 2x |
| J | 0.2x | 0.5x | 2x |
Ultimate Slots Verdict
Unlike Octoplay's middle-reel train collectors, Outlaw Rails lets two outlaws on reel 3 rob four pinned trains.
Its 5x5 bonus, where each Locomotive shuts a reel, is the highlight, and a plain ten-line base keeps it at 4.3.
Hits What we like
- Each Prize Train can land only on its own reel, and an Outlaw Collector on reel 3 collects it, so you can read every reel's prizes before a spin
- Two different Outlaw Collectors on reel 3, with the Female landing up to 3 per spin outside the bonus and the Male able to land once per spin with a 3x on his total
- Hold & Win, triggered by 4 or more Wagons or Locomotives with an Outlaw Collector, grows the grid to 5x5 and resets its spins to the maximum each time a Wagon or Collector lands
- Every Locomotive that lands in Hold & Win pays its jackpot and shuts its reel, which gives the round a clear finish
- Western art with skulls on a rope, a brass lantern, and wood-grain card letters that suit the train robbery
Misses What could be better
- Without an Outlaw Collector on reel 3, wagons and locomotives pay nothing
- Line pays are modest, with gold bars at 30x for five and the Wild's own pay topping out at 50x for five
- The Wild can't substitute for Wagon or Locomotive symbols
Detailed Review
Our Review
Two outlaws flank a gold locomotive on the title screen, one with his revolver raised and one already firing, and that picture is the game, with the trains carrying the money and the outlaws taking it. The bonus is laid out just as plainly. You can read its whole map before a spin.
Look at how the board is laid out. Every train has a fixed reel, a fixed set of wagon values, and a fixed jackpot, so the grid reads as a ladder from the Gold Train’s 5x to 10x wagons on reel 1 down to the Blue Train’s 1x to 3x on reel 5. Reel 3 decides whether any of it pays. When wagons land and reel 3 shows a sack of nuggets instead of an outlaw, you’re looking at prizes nobody collects, and the game makes you feel that miss. The Male Outlaw, who can land once per spin, is the best idea here, because his 3x turns a single good train into the round you remember. In the bonus, the Female can land up to 5 per spin, and that’s when reel 3 stops feeling like a bottleneck.
The 5×5 Hold & Win adds a second layer of tension. A Locomotive pays its jackpot and deactivates its reel, so each jackpot also takes one train out of the round, and taking all four ends it. Every jackpot you’re hoping for is also a reel you’d lose, and that pull in two directions is what makes the round worth watching.
The ten-line main game is what keeps the score down. Gold bars at 30x for five and a Wild whose own pay is 50x for five make line wins a sideshow next to the trains. Octoplay’s own testing recorded a top win of 5,300x.
Fans of Octoplay’s other train slots will notice a swap. In Thunderline Express and Fire Rail Express, the train on the middle reel does the collecting. Those are 3×3 games. Here, on a 5×3 grid with ten lines, the trains carry the prizes and the outlaws rob them. Read each spin from reel 3 outwards, finding the outlaw first and then the trains there are to collect. Find your outlaw first, then count what they’re taking.
