Bizarre Demo

Bizarre draws 20 fixed lines across a farm laboratory, and for a late-2025 Nolimit City release, that is the surprise. The studio usually builds on ways or xWays. This time, a mad doctor stitches animals together over muddy green reels, and the grid underneath is a plain 5×4 slot with lines you could trace by hand. That plain board makes the main feature easy to read, because when the doctor lands on the first or fifth reel, he cuts his whole row in two.

The paying symbols are stitched-together creatures, a rabbit with a centipede body, a cow, a goat, a duck, and a rat, the sort of monster a backyard lab would turn out. The Wild floats in a specimen jar and the Scatters are brains trailing tentacles. Per Lindheimer summed up the idea at launch: “Mixing animals with fruits is something we like to talk about on a daily basis at Nolimit City.”

Features

The Doctor on Reels 1 and 5

Bizarre 5x4 reels with the xSplit doctor on reel 1 and a split row tagged 2x
The doctor on reel 1 splits row 3, tagging a 10, two Aces and the Wild jar at 2x, while a Q line through him pays 0.15x.

xSplit has two homes in this game: the first reel and the last. The doctor lands as one cell or as a tower four rows high, sometimes partly hidden. He splits every other symbol on his row into two halves at double size, each tagged 2x, and then turns Wild himself. The other three rows keep what they landed.

The Wild Jar

The Wild’s multiplier is written on the jar. At rest, it reads 1x, and a jar caught in a split reads 2x, as the board frame in this review shows.

Brains on the Middle Reels

In the main game, Scatters can land only on the three middle reels, never on the first or last. Three brains start Chimera Spins, and two brains with a Super Scatter start Super Chimera Spins.

Chimera Spins

A Respin Before the Bonus

The bonus takes shape before a free spin is played. The three middle reels respin one at a time, each showing a Wild, an extra-spin symbol, or an empty space. A Wild or extra-spin symbol stays and awards another respin, until a respin adds nothing. Extra-spin symbols add their number to the count, so a round that opens at 3 Chimera Spins can leave the lab with more.

Wilds from the respin stay sticky through the bonus, as does a Scatter that lands on the middle reel. A doctor who later splits a row with one of those jars in it gives the jar a multiplier it keeps to the end. Monsters On The Loose! sets the limit, and once the total passes 20,000x, the game pays exactly that and stops the round.

Super Chimera Spins

Super Chimera Spins add one rule, and every Scatter on the board turns into a sticky Wild. The trigger only counts in the main game, and the round still opens at 3 spins before its respin.

When either round finishes, the game may offer an Extra Spin that keeps the jars and their multipliers, priced from those multipliers and shown only when it costs no more than the bonus paid, and the rules rate declining it as the higher-return choice.

How to Play

Lines and the Split Row

Bizarre scores on 20 fixed lines across a 5×4 grid, a rarer format for Nolimit City than its ways and xWays boards. To win, a line needs at least three of the same symbol in an unbroken run from the first reel, and only the biggest combination on a line is paid. The doctor changes how a row reads. Landing on either end reel, he splits the symbols on his row into doubled halves and then works as a Wild.

Bet Range

The smallest base bet is €0.20 and the biggest €100, and each Nolimit Booster multiplies what a spin costs, by 2x for xBoost and by 30x for Bonus Hunt. Without a Booster, the game returns 96.06% RTP.

xBoost places a Scatter on reel 2 each time it fires, and that brain may be a Super Scatter, for a 96.03% return. Bonus Hunt strips the reels down to Scatters and empty spaces, never more than one Super Scatter, and makes Chimera Spins 49 times more likely at 30x the bet, returning 95.95%. Line wins are still paid from the base bet alone, whichever Booster is running.

Paytable

The Wild jar and the rabbit chimera share the top column, and it jumps late. Three pay 2x, four pay 4x, and five pay 44x. The cow, goat, duck, and rat creature fall from 32x down to 17x for five, while the royals stay flat, 1.8x down to 1x for five and 0.15x to 0.2x for three. Only the two brains, the Scatter and the Super Scatter, are off limits to the jar.

Symbol 3 4 5
Wild jar / rabbit chimera 2x 4x 44x
Cow 1.6x 3.2x 32x
Goat 1.3x 2.6x 22x
Duck 1.2x 2.4x 19x
Rat creature 1.1x 2.2x 17x
A 0.2x 0.5x 1.8x
K 0.2x 0.5x 1.6x
Q 0.15x 0.3x 1.4x
J 0.15x 0.3x 1.2x
10 0.15x 0.3x 1x

Ultimate Slots Verdict

The xSplit doctor on reels 1 and 5 suits a plain 20-line board, and the middle-reel respin before Chimera Spins is a clever way to set up a bonus. The Boosters cost more and return less, the royals barely pay, and 3 starting spins lean on the respin. A readable, well-built Nolimit City slot.

Detailed Review

One Row, Cut in Two

A doctor lands on reel 1, his row falls into doubled halves, and a line either runs through them or misses. xSplit is easy to read on Bizarre because the game uses a 5×4 grid with 20 fixed lines, so a split changes one row you can trace with a finger. Nolimit City has used xSplit since xWays Hoarder xSplit in 2021. On lines, you can see at a glance what the doctor did.

The best idea on the board comes before the bonus. The middle-reel respin settles how long Chimera Spins will run and how many sticky jars they start with, and it plays out one reel at a time in front of you. A bonus that opens at 3 spins sounds thin, and without help from that respin, it is. The slow reveal is built to make each added Wild feel like progress, and a respin that adds nothing lands as a small letdown before a spin has even been played.

Once it starts, the round has a clear shape. Sticky jars wait on the middle reels, and every doctor on an outer reel can cut a row through them and hand them a multiplier they keep. That link between the two features is what the game does best.

The Boosters are the weak part. xBoost at 2x and Bonus Hunt at 30x both return slightly less than playing without them, so paying more to reach the bonus buys a lower return. The studio also offers Coinage at 200x the bet, a coin-and-Collector feature that Per Lindheimer says Nolimit City “developed specifically for this game”, along with Chimera Spins.

The paytable pulls two ways. The creatures pay well, up to 44x for five on a line, while the royals barely register at 1x to 1.8x for five, so between features, most of the value comes from them and whatever the doctor splits. This is a high-volatility slot, and long runs of small line wins and empty spins come with it.

Dr. Bizarre’s experiments now share a catalogue with Mental, the studio’s asylum slot. In the demo, it’s worth the time as free play for the doctor and the respin, and the Boosters are easy to leave alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

The doctor splits every other symbol on his row into two halves at double size, each tagged 2x, then acts as a Wild. He only lands on the first and last reels, as one cell or as a tower four rows high.
Extra spins and sticky Wilds. The three middle reels respin one at a time, and each Wild or extra-spin symbol that lands stays and triggers another respin until one adds nothing. In Bizarre, extra-spin symbols add their number to the starting 3 spins, and Wilds placed this way stay sticky until the bonus ends.
They need two Scatters and a Super Scatter in the main game, and every Scatter on the board becomes a sticky Wild instead of only the one on the middle reel. The respin and the 3-spin start work the same way.
xBoost doubles what a spin costs and places a Scatter on reel 2, sometimes a Super Scatter, with a 96.03% return. Bonus Hunt costs 30x and lets only Scatters or empty spaces land, never more than one Super Scatter, with a 95.95% return.
It pays on 20 fixed lines across a 5x4 grid, with each line paying its best combination counted from the first reel.
