Four jackpot tiers sit lit above the reels before you spin, with a hut and moonlit woodland behind them. The Blue Wizard slot wraps a standard Fire Blaze jackpot game in an enchanted forest and an old-school Classics look. Two features run it, crystal balls that lock and respin toward the 2,000x Grand, and six free spins with multiplier wilds on the middle reel.
The Blue Wizard himself is the wild, standing in for every symbol except the two that run the bonuses, the castle scatter and the crystal ball. He shows up on all but the leftmost reel. A wild can extend a win already reaching in from the left, but it cannot open one on reel 1 by itself. In the free spins, a wild on reel 3 also gains a win multiplier, described below.
The crystal balls are the game’s bonus symbol, and each one that lands carries a cash value of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 or 50x your bet. Get 6 or more of them in one spin and the Fire Blaze hold and win respin begins. The triggering balls lock in place, the rest of the grid keeps spinning, and you get 3 respins to add more. Every new one that drops holds too and resets the respins to 3.
Fill all 15 positions and the top tier, the Grand, pays 2,000x your bet. A crystal ball showing a Star instead of a value awards the Major, Minor or Mini when held, at 500, 100 or 20x your bet, and more than one Star can land in a single feature. When the respins run out or the grid fills, every value on screen is paid at once and the round closes.
Land 3 castle scatters anywhere for 6 free spins, and the whole game changes rooms, the forest giving way to a torch-lit chamber. Any wild on reel 3 arrives with a multiplier of 2x, 4x, 8x or 16x pinned to it, one per row, so a win takes the value sitting on the row its line crosses. Reel 3 can also drop a crystal ball worth 5, 10, 15 or 50x your bet during these spins. Another 3 castles on one free spin hand over 6 more, and 6 crystal balls at once tip you straight into the Fire Blaze respin from within the round.
Blue Wizard counts its wins on 30 fixed lines, each read from reel 1 towards the right, and pays only the top combination on each. The wizard wild fills in for the paying symbols but not for the castle scatter or the crystal ball, and it stays off reel 1. Stakes run from €0.10 to €100 a spin, set on the total bet, which is why the jackpot values on the panel scale with it.
The demo runs a theoretical return of 96.51% at high volatility, with a maximum win of 4,217x the bet. Reel-3 multipliers push a free spins line win past its paytable value. Five owls pay €6 at a €1 spin, and the same line with a x4 wizard standing in for one of them pays €24.
| Symbol | 5 | 4 | 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Castle (scatter) | €50 | €10 | €1 |
| Owl | €6 | €1.50 | €0.30 |
| Cauldron | €4 | €1 | €0.30 |

Figures reflect a €1 total bet.
Blue Wizard is Rarestone's 2019 game with Quickspin's interface bolted on, and the 3.4 score reflects both halves of that. The Fire Blaze respin toward a 2,000x Grand and six free spins with 16x wilds on reel 3 are competent, familiar and priced like every other game in the suite. The presentation is where opinion splits. The music loops a short mystical phrase and the wins ding like a land-based cabinet, a mismatch that some players will find charming and others will want gone, though the single sound toggle takes the reel effects with it.
Blue Wizard makes no secret of its age. The “Fire Blaze Classics” label the game opens on tells you what it is, and the presentation backs it up, from the dated symbol art to the bright, tinny ding that marks every win. The old-fashioned chimes are the one thing that sits oddly against the mystical music, a small mismatch you notice and move past. Quickspin has repainted the 2019 game rather than rebuilt it.
The sound does a lot of the work in making the game easy to sit through. The background score is a short mystical loop, only a few notes cycling round, and on paper that should grate. In practice it settles into the back of the room and stays there across a long session. One control handles all of it, so muting the looping tune takes the reel effects and the win dings with it.
The Fire Blaze respin is where the game stops looking dated. Six crystal balls dropped us into it the first time, and the round builds well, each locked value flying up to the total in a little comet of fire as the tempo tightens with every new ball. Fourteen of the 15 positions came up, and we watched the last corner glow gold over the final 3 respins, but it never came. A second round from 7 balls stopped at 13 for €39. Neither troubled the Grand, though falling one ball short is exactly the near-miss the respins are built to sell.
The free spins are the softer of the two rounds, and the one where this wizard does his best work. Three castles opened 6 spins, with more castles the only way to add to them. The wizard began turning up on reel 3 with multipliers pinned to him, and one spin filled the reel with wilds, a x4 and two x2s across its three rows, so the wins crossing them pushed the running total from €1.20 to €20.20. A €9.60 win near the end brought the round to a close.
