About Game

Deadwood R.I.P Demo Overview

A winning combination can land on these reels and still pay nothing. xRIP is the rule behind that, and any spin whose paytable total falls under the bet is wiped to zero before it reaches the balance. Add a hit rate of 8.29%, and Deadwood R.I.P becomes one of the coldest boards Nolimit City has built, with 100,000x at the far end of it. The 2024 sequel spends its whole design on that trade.

Demo Features

The Fifth Reel

Deadwood R.I.P pay table showing the five Gunslinger symbols with their three, four and five of a kind payouts
Five Gunslingers on torn wanted and busted posters, El Gordo heading the group at 3.5x for five.

Reel 5 follows different rules. Low cards never reach it. Only Gunslingers and the Hog Me Tight Scatter land there, and a symbol landing fully counts as two. In Salvation Spins, it narrows to Hog Me Tight alone, which gives a two-row reel the weight of a four-row one.

xNudge Maths

The stacked Wild drops onto one of the three middle reels and nudges until the whole reel shows it. Every nudge is worth 1 on the win multiplier, to x4 at most on one Wild. Outside the bonus modes, two or more of them add together. Inside Redemption and Salvation Spins, they multiply each other, and the total holds until the round closes.

Reel Split Wild and Hog Me Tight

Two Diamondback Scatters convert into a Reel Split Wild, which halves its own reel and doubles the symbols on it. An xNudge Wild caught in the split doubles its multiplier. Hog Me Tight works from reel 5 the other way, splitting the middle row on reel 1 and both middle rows on reels 2 to 4 while acting as a Wild.

Quick Draw and the Shootout

One revolver cylinder on reel 1 sets off Quick Draw. It fires 3 to 6 shots, depending on the bullets loaded, and each doubles whichever symbol multiplier it hits. Sheriff Badges work in pairs, one on reel 2 and one on reel 4, turning every low symbol across the middle reels Wild.

Redemption and Salvation Spins

Three Diamondback Scatters award 5 Redemption Spins (the studio’s own buy-ins for the two modes run from 80x to 1,500x). A Hog Me Tight Scatter on the last reel makes it Salvation and adds a sixth spin. Land all four together, and the 6-spin version starts outright, reel 5 locked to Hog Me Tight, a split cutting the middle row every spin. Three R.I.P symbols retrigger, at +5 spins in Redemption and +6 in Salvation.

xBet 1 and xBet 2

Both settings trade a rougher standard game for easier bonus access. xBet 1 raises the bet by 150% and fixes a Diamondback to reel 2. xBet 2 raises it by 1,400% and fixes one to reels 2 and 3. Symbol pays are unaffected, and the Nolimit Booster switches them on per spin at 2.5x and 15x.

Four Years After Deadwood

Deadwood opened the series in 2020 on a 3-4-4-4-3 board, 576 ways, a 13,950x limit. The June 2024 follow-up keeps the nudging Wild and the same grim Wild West art, shortens the last reel to two rows, and gives it a job of its own. What it surrenders is frequency.

How to Play

The xRIP Rule

Deadwood R.I.P reels at rest on the 3-4-4-4-2 grid with the 384 WAYS badge and a wanted poster on reel 5
The 3-4-4-4-2 grid with 384 WAYS on the plaque, a two-high El Gordo poster filling the short fifth reel, and the xNudge plaque beside it good for +1 to the win multiplier per nudge.

xRIP is a deletion rule. Any spin in the main game or a bonus mode whose paytable total falls below the bet returns nothing, so the small consolation results that keep most ways games ticking over do not exist here. What survives is everything worth more than the bet, which on a 384-way board means matching symbols reaching across neighbouring reels with the fifth reel’s doubling behind them.

A symbol’s value is counted once for each way it completes, and coinciding wins on different ways are all paid. Because the rule weighs the whole spin rather than one combination at a time, a board carrying several small results can clear the bar where any one of them alone would not. That arrangement puts this slot in the same bracket as San Quentin 2: Death Row, another Nolimit City game with a six-figure cap.

A settings toggle also hands the spacebar the job of the spin control, which helps when free play is mostly a wait for Scatters.

Bet Range and Return to Player

The game takes bets between €0.10 and €100. Return to player is 96.09%, though the hit rate covered above shapes a session more than the RTP does. Almost none of that return comes back during standard play. It is stacked behind the Scatters and the nudging Wilds instead, which is why a demo balance tends to fall in a straight line for a long stretch and then move in one go. Anyone treating this as a test of patience rather than a test of the maths has read it correctly.

Demo Paytable

The table is unusually flat at the top. El Gordo, the best of the five Gunslingers, returns 3.5x for five. Edda Star and the revolver cowboy follow at 3x and 2.5x, the two Busted outlaws at 2x and 1.5x, and the card ranks bunch between 1x and 1.2x for the same count.

Nothing in the table reaches double figures, so everything between the table and 100,000x has to come from ways counts, splits, and multipliers. Five of a kind is the deepest row the table carries, because the fifth reel’s doubling does the job a sixth reel would. The Wilds and both Scatters return nothing on their own and do their work through the features.

Ultimate Slots Verdict

Patience is the entry fee. This is a design that asks for long cold runs and settles up in multiplier maths almost nothing in the frontier category can match. Superb construction, brutal terms, and well worth a free run first.

4.6/5 Outstanding

✓ What We Like

  • xNudge multipliers multiply each other inside Redemption and Salvation Spins instead of adding, and the total holds for the round
  • The short fifth reel earns its two rows, counting every symbol double and splitting the rows to its left through Hog Me Tight
  • Quick Draw doubles a symbol multiplier 3 to 6 times over from a single revolver on reel 1

✗ What Could Be Better

  • A hit rate this low, with xRIP voiding the smallest results on top of it, means very long runs with nothing back
  • A 3.5x best symbol and 384 ways make standard play a waiting room for the Scatters

Detailed Review

How Our Gameplay Went

A gold-framed rattlesnake fills a cell on reel 2, a lone Sheriff Badge is low on reel 4, and a column of R.I.P symbols runs beside them. Three feature markers on one board, and not one of them does anything by itself. Boards like that are the normal state of this game, and they are why the review lands where it does rather than a notch higher.

The art is doing a lot of the holding. Every Gunslinger is a torn poster, wanted or busted, with a ruined face showing through the paper, the frame around the reels is a gallows, and the palette has been drained to bone and ash with the gold rattlesnake as the only colour that reads as hope. Four years on from the original, the frontier has stopped being a place anybody rides out of.

The design argument is the multiplier maths, and it is sharper than the theme suggests. Two nudging Wilds in standard play give you a sum. The same two inside Redemption or Salvation Spins give you a product, and the product carries forward across the round. Then, the doubling routes stack on top of it. A Reel Split Wild doubles an xNudge multiplier outright, Quick Draw doubles a symbol multiplier 3 to 6 times over, and Hog Me Tight keeps splitting rows from reel 5. Six figures stops looking decorative once those three combine.

What you pay for it is everything else. Standard play is 384 ways of 3.5x-and-below symbols with xRIP deleting the bottom of the range, and the route into the bonus needs three rattlesnakes across three middle reels. The client offers no turbo or quick-spin setting either, so the flat stretches run at one pace. Anyone who wants regular feedback should look elsewhere in the Nolimit City catalogue, where the studio has plenty of gentler boards.

The real limit on this one is temperament rather than craft. Nothing here is careless, and the demo is the fairest way to find out whether a board that pays this rarely is a board you want to sit in front of. It is unusually honest about itself too, because the flat runs start immediately rather than waiting for the novelty to wear off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Two rules thin them out. Wins only form when matching symbols reach across neighbouring reels on the 384-way board, and xRIP then voids any result whose paytable total falls under the bet. Combinations that would show a small return on another game show nothing here.
It deletes it. If the symbols on screen add up to less than the bet, the payout is cancelled and the round ends at zero. The rule applies in standard play and inside both bonus modes, so a thin free spin can also come back empty.
They multiply rather than add. Outside the bonus, two nudging Wilds combine their multipliers by addition, but in Deadwood R.I.P's Redemption and Salvation Spins, the multipliers are multiplied together and the collected total stays on the reels for the rest of the feature. A Reel Split Wild that catches one doubles it again.
Quick Draw is triggered by one revolver cylinder landing on reel 1. It fires between 3 and 6 shots, depending on how many bullets the cylinder holds, and every shot doubles the symbol multiplier it hits.
The 2020 original ran 576 ways on a 3-4-4-4-3 grid and capped at 13,950x. The sequel drops the last reel to two rows, gives it doubling symbols and its own Scatter, and takes the cap to six figures. The nudging Wild is the piece both games are built on.
