About Game

Misery Mining Demo Overview

96.09% or 96.00%. The Misery Mining demo asks the player to pick one of those returns each time the free spins start, with two buttons, Mouse Mode and Rat Mode. The higher figure belongs to Mouse Mode, which the rules name as the pick that returns more. Nothing else in this slot lets the player move the RTP. Until then, play starts on a 3×3 in the middle of a 7×7 mine, with an eye-patched dwarf on the top symbol.

The dwarf is digging for a beer recipe, and the mining setting follows him down with a lantern and bottles on a table beside the reels.

Bonus Features

Collapses and xBomb Mining

A win in Misery Mining pays, clears the winning symbols, and drops new ones into the gaps, and an xBomb blast does the same on a spin with no win. When a spin brings neither a win nor an xBomb Wild, and fewer than three Scatters are showing, the game turns those Scatters and any Super Scatters into non-Wild xBombs and detonates them. The blasts start a fresh collapse, move the barriers they touch, and raise the multiplier on the collapses that follow by one.

Misery Freespins

Three Scatters start the round on a 3×3 area, one Super Scatter on a 4×3, and two on a 5×3, so the board opens wider rather than taller.

Mouse or Rat

A choice screen follows the trigger. Mouse Mode starts with 8, 10, or 12 spins, matching the three starting areas, and a Super Scatter adds two more while fewer than two are active. Rat Mode starts with three spins, and the count goes back to three whenever a coin wagon or a Super Scatter fires, so the round lasts as long as the cart row keeps delivering.

The Cart Row Above the Reels

A row of mine carts runs above the reels, and each bonus spin reveals new enhancers in it. An enhancer fires only when a Scatter or Super Scatter lands on the reel below it. The Rat is the exception. Coin wagons have 5x to 100x and add it to the Scatter and the nearest side collectors. Multipliers of x2 to x5 multiply what their Scatter collects, and over a Super Scatter, they add to its multiplier until the bonus ends. A bomb opens the 8 cells around its Scatter.

The bag and the chest gather Scatter values, and the Dwarf sticks to the lowest triggering Scatter and collects for the spins left. The Rat appears only on enhancer reels 1 and 7, and Super Scatters only on 2 and 6, jumping to a random spot on the board.

Side and Bottom Collectors

Collectors line both sides of the mine and the bottom row, and bombs or the Rat open them. An open side collector adds its value to the total win on each spin that follows, and an open bottom collector gathers what the Scatters and side collectors on its reel hold, so one opened early keeps paying until the bonus ends.

How to Play

27 Ways to 823,543

Misery Mining main game with the central 3x3 open, a dwarf, a rat and two compasses in play and the outer mine dimmed behind barriers
Only the central 3×3 opens at 27 ways, with the dwarf, a rat and two compasses inside the barriers and the rest of the 7×7 dimmed around them; three dwarfs on a board this size pay 1.4x.

The board opens as three reels of three rows, 27 ways, in the centre of a 7×7 mine walled off by barriers. An xBomb blowing up beside a barrier moves it one step out, and one in the centre moves them all. Fully open, the mine is 7 reels by 7 rows and 823,543 ways. A match starts on the first open reel on the left and continues across neighbouring reels for three or more, and every route through the matching positions pays at the column for the number of open reels.

Barriers and Bombs

Misery Mining is a 2022 Nolimit City xBomb slot, and the dynamite Wilds do most of the digging. The xBomb Wild completes wins for any paying symbol, though never for a Scatter or Super Scatter, and when it blows, it wipes out its neighbours apart from Scatters, Super Scatters, and other xBombs. It explodes on any win and, with no win on the board, on its own. Each blast lifts the next collapse’s multiplier by one.

RTP by Mode

The bet opens at €0.20 and climbs to €100. Mouse Mode returns 96.09% and Rat Mode 96.00%, and the mode picked as Misery Freespins begin sets which applies.

Paytable by Reels

Three dwarfs pay 1.4x with three reels open, 1x with four or five, and 0.6x with six or seven. Five pay 4.25x on a four- or five-reel board, and six and seven pay 8.75x and 16x on the widest. At seven of a kind, the rat, bottle, compass, and pipe range from 10.5x down to 5.25x, and the card symbols from 4.25x down to 2x. Empty cells mark counts the board is too narrow for.

The S coins and the xBomb Wild have no row. The coins start the bonus, and the Wild pays as what it completes.

Ultimate Slots Verdict

Choosing between Mouse and Rat is the best idea in Misery Mining, and the free spins around that choice are deep, with eight kinds of enhancer feeding side and bottom collectors while xBombs open the mine. The main game spends long stretches on a 3x3 of 27 ways, and the cart row takes a few bonuses to learn. Neither flaw reaches the free spins.

4.5/5 Outstanding

✓ What We Like

  • The free spins offer Mouse Mode or Rat Mode, and the rules say which one returns more
  • The mine grows from 27 ways to 823,543 as xBombs move the barriers out
  • xBomb Mining turns spare Scatters into bombs, so a spin with no win can still open the board
  • Eight kinds of enhancer in the cart row, from coin wagons worth up to 100x to the Rat
  • Open side and bottom collectors pay again on later bonus spins

✗ What Could Be Better

  • Most main-game spins play on a 3x3 of 27 ways
  • Rat Mode's three-spin count can close a bonus after three quiet spins
  • The cart row has so many parts that the first few bonuses are hard to follow

Detailed Review

Mouse Beats Rat

Misery Mining looks like a mine shaft lit by one lantern, all brown timber and gold trim, with dynamite for Wilds and the dwarf glaring from the top symbol. Its strongest idea comes with the free spins. Three Scatters bring up two buttons, and the player picks the round’s length and its return in one press. Mouse Mode gives a fixed stock of spins that Super Scatters can extend. Rat Mode gives three and hands them back whenever a coin wagon or Super Scatter fires, and the rules state plainly that Mouse returns more.

Rat Mode is the tenser round. With three spins on the counter and no coin wagon over a Scatter, each empty spin brings the bonus closer to its end, and a single wagon puts it back to three. That swing is what the mode is built to deliver, and the lower return is what the player gives up for it. Mouse Mode is steadier, since its spins are known at the start and the collectors have time to fill.

The weak stretch is the main game. Most spins play out on the 3×3 at 27 ways, and the board grows only when xBombs land or xBomb Mining fires. Wins still come often, with 28.57% of spins paying something. They are mostly small, because a three-reel board allows three of a kind at most, and the table’s biggest prices need six or seven reels open.

The cart row is the other cost. Eight kinds of enhancer, two kinds of collector, and a Dwarf that sticks to one Scatter make for a busy screen, and the first few bonuses go by before the pattern is clear. A handful of demo sessions sorts the bag from the chest, and after that the row reads as one system.

Misery Mining came a year after Fire in the Hole xBomb, which ran a 6×6 mine of 46,656 ways to a 60,000x cap, and widened the dig to 7×7. Its own cap, Le Grand Jaune, has a match three years later in Fire in the Hole 3, which stops at the same 70,000x. Of everything in Misery Mining, the Mouse or Rat screen is what stays with you after the carts stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mouse Mode starts with 8, 10, or 12 spins, depending on the trigger, and a Super Scatter adds two more. Rat Mode starts with three spins and goes back to three whenever a coin wagon or Super Scatter fires. The game's rules name Mouse Mode as the choice with the higher return.
An xBomb that explodes next to a barrier moves it one step outward, and one exploding in the centre moves every barrier at once. xBomb Mining can do the same on a spin with no win, and a fully opened Misery Mining board runs 7 reels by 7 rows for 823,543 ways.
Each Misery Mining price depends on how many reels are open, with separate columns for three, four to five, and six to seven reels. Three rats pay 1.15x on a three-reel board but 0.5x once six or seven reels are open, while the bigger counts only become possible on the wider boards.
It reveals enhancers that fire when a Scatter lands beneath them. Coin wagons add 5x to 100x, multipliers apply x2 to x5, bombs open the cells around a Scatter, and the bag, chest, and Dwarf gather values, while the Rat opens collectors and Super Scatters jump onto the board.
