About Game

Keeping it Reel Overview

10,000 times the bet. That is the cap here, and it is double what any other Big Bass title on this site can reach. Nothing else about the game moved to pay for it. Same board, same fisherman collecting cash fish through the free spins, same price on the Buy plaque. Reel Kingdom raised one number and left the rest of the frame where it has been since the first Big Bass Bonanza. The interesting part is where the extra room comes from. It comes from one fish, and from how far the game will let a round run before it stops.

It belongs to the Big Bass Series, Reel Kingdom’s longest-running fishing slot set for Pragmatic Play, and it arrived in October 2022.

How the Demo Works

The Money Fish

Big Bass Keeping it Reel base game with a single scatter on reel 2 and stacked fish money symbols on reels 1 and 4
There are no wilds or bobber symbols on this reel set, which is what you’re really going for!

Every fish on the reels carries a cash value, drawn fresh on each spin. In standard play, those values do nothing; the fish pay as an ordinary symbol, and the money on their backs goes nowhere. Hitting 3, 4, or 5 scatters opens the free spins at 10, 15, or 20 spins, and that’s where the fisherman wild appears. He can land on any reel, and when he does, he sweeps up every fish value showing at that moment. This is the whole earning engine.

Golden Wilds

Fish that hit during free spins and go uncollected aren’t lost straight away. Their values go into a landing net at the side, which carries them over from spin to spin. The net leaks, though. At every free spin, one random fish escapes it, and its value comes off the stored total. The Golden Wild is what makes the net matter, because it takes the fish showing at the time and the net’s running value with it.

Four Retrigger Levels

Wilds accumulate across the whole round. Every fourth one collected adds 10 more free spins and moves the collection multiplier up a step, to 2x, then 3x, then 10x. Four levels is where it stops. After the fourth, extra wilds keep collecting, but the round can no longer extend. That gives the feature a shape most money-collect games don’t have. The early spins are cheap and flat, and the reward for surviving them is a multiplier on every fish the fisherman touches.

The Buy Feature and the Ante

The Buy Free Spins plaque costs 100x the current total bet and drops you straight into the round, with a random 3, 4, or 5 scatter trigger on the way in. The other route is the Ante Bet, a 50% surcharge that trades cost for a better natural trigger rate. The two don’t co-exist. Turn the ante on, and the buy plaque goes dark. One oddity survives from another Reel Kingdom title, because the ante’s own note still mentions a respin round, and no respin round exists here.

How to Play

10 fixed lines is a small board by 2022 standards, and the table behind it is modest. Five bobbers, the best line pay here, return 200x the bet, and the picture symbols under it fall away quickly. Against that, a fish can be drawn at 1,000x, and the shape of the game is clear from those two figures alone. Line wins keep the reels turning between features. The cap is the fish’s business, and only the free spins can cash one of them.

Push the top end, and the numbers meet neatly. A single top-value fish, collected at the highest multiplier step, lands exactly on the cap. The game ends the round the moment a win reaches that limit, pays out to it, and lets the remaining spins go. The maximum comes from one fish, one gold wild, and a round that has already climbed all four retrigger steps to reach the multiplier that gets it there.

That split explains why the demo can feel quiet. Fish land constantly in standard play, each with a value showing, and none of it is reachable until a third scatter arrives. The money is visible long before it’s collectable, and that is why ordinary spins read flatter here than the artwork suggests. Hold the space bar if you’d rather the reels dropped at turbo speed.

What the Symbols Payout

Big Bass Keeping it Reel symbol pay table showing the bobber, rod, dragonfly, tackle box, fish, and royals
The bobber pays $400 for five at the $2.00 stake and is the only symbol on the table with a two-of-a-kind win at $1.00.

Values below are multiples of the stake, and the bobber is the only symbol here that pays for two and has the largest payout for 5.

Fishing rod – 3x 15x 100x

Ultimate Slots Verdict

The highest cap in the Big Bass family, reached by the narrowest route in it. Keeping it Reel is a well-made fishing set-up with one raised number and nothing else changed, and that makes it worth a run in free play if the caps elsewhere in the series have started to feel small.

3.5/5 Very Good

✓ What We Like

  • The landing net keeps missed fish values in play instead of discarding them
  • Golden Wild adds the net's stored total to whatever is on the reels
  • Four retrigger levels give the round a clear shape and a real top step
  • The highest cap in the Big Bass series, at twice what the others reach
  • Buy Free Spins and Ante Bet both offered, with the same return on every route

✗ What Could Be Better

  • Fish values are drawn on every spin and cannot be collected outside the free spins
  • The top multiplier step needs four retrigger levels inside one round, so the cap is a long way off

Detailed Review

Big Bass Keeping it Reel Play Experience

3.5 out of 5, because the cap is real and the road to it is the family’s usual one. Everything that makes this the biggest number in the series exists only inside a feature you have to reach first; otherwise, nothing on the screen improves. The rest of the game is the Big Bass frame exactly as you know it, competently made and a little dated, working at a stake you can set as low as you like.

The design does one thing very well. Fish values are drawn on every spin whether you can take them or not, so the reels always have a number on them, and the free spins turn that display into a bank. The landing net sharpens it further, holding everything you missed at the edge of the board while one fish slips out of it each spin. You end up watching a total you don’t own shrink slowly. That’s well-judged pressure, and it gives the round more to follow than the flat collect the earlier entries in the series used.

The artwork does none of that work; it’s the same boat and the same golden hour the series has used for years.

What holds up less well is the route. The biggest fish value is a rare draw on a board this narrow, and the top multiplier step only arrives after four retrigger levels inside one round. Both have to happen together. That’s the honest case against the headline, since a larger cap costs nothing if nobody reaches it, and this one asks for two long shots to land at once. The extra room earns itself in the middle of a good round, because the top step applied to an ordinary screen of fish still returns several times what the older titles could manage from the same reels.

The comparison that matters is with the games on either side. Big Bass Bonanza is the cheaper, faster version of this idea and still the best place to start. Big Bass Bonanza 1000 chases a bigger figure through the collect multiplier instead of a bigger fish. Keeping it Reel is the middle option of the three, and the one to try in free play if the older caps have started to look small.

Frequently Asked Questions

The net stores the value of every fish that lands and isn't collected, and the game removes one random fish from it at each spin so the stored total can't build without limit. Whatever remains is still there for a Golden Wild to take.
The net's current value. Both wilds sweep up the fish showing on the reels, but only the gold one adds the landing net's stored total to that collection, which is why a late Golden Wild is worth more than an early one.
Four times at most. Every fourth wild collected extends the round and raises the collection multiplier a step, and once the fourth level is reached the feature can't extend again. Wilds carry on collecting after that. They just stop adding spins.
Because Keeping it Reel raises the top fish value rather than the paytable. The rest of the family stops at 5,000x with a smaller money range behind it; this one lets a single fish carry a four-figure multiple of the bet, and the collection multiplier does the rest.
