Hacksaw Gaming Eye of Medusa Demo

Eye of Medusa splash with three arched feature cards
Three arched cards stand on a jungle ruin, the left one showing blue-hooded soldiers among stone letters, the middle one a gold Medusa face between two stone-grey helmets, the right one a crested helmet over crossed spears and purple ribbon.

Anyone who has played Ze Zeus knows the cascade in this Eye of Medusa demo before any win lands. A win wipes its symbol type off the board, fresh tiles slide down into the holes, and the cascade repeats until nothing new pays. Then, a gold or silver Medusa face arrives on the reels, and the same win works differently. High-paying soldiers turn to stone, sink to the bottom of the grid with her, and wait there, each one revealing between 0.2x and 500x before her own multiplier lands on the total.

July 2025 added this one to Hacksaw’s Greek-myth slots, and the story’s two figures take the edges of the screen, a Spartan warrior with sword and round shield on the left and Medusa in a blue gown on the right, wrapped in a green snake. Between them, a board of dark stone tiles is set in a red-and-gold frame crowned with gold wings, against a jungle ruin of broken columns and hanging vines.

Stone Instead of Refills

The cascade here is Ze Zeus’s Super Cascade, which removes all of the winning type from the grid, including copies that took no part in the win.

A Medusa on the grid changes the order of events. If a win with her on the grid is made of card ranks, she drops to the bottom row and stays there until the spin ends, while any tile that isn’t stone clears and new symbols fall in its place. That repeats until no new win forms. If the win is made of high-paying soldiers instead, those soldiers turn to stone and fall to the bottom with her. Everything else clears, new symbols drop, and each later high-symbol win sends more stone down to join the pile.

A low-symbol win petrifies nothing. It only moves her down and clears the board around her, a wider sweep than the one-type Super Cascade the game uses without her.

Slot Features

Silver and Gold Medusa

Eye of Medusa reels with a gold Medusa symbol on reel 4
A gold Medusa face on reel 4’s fourth row waits among blue-plumed and red-plumed helmets and hooded soldiers, while a Spartan warrior keeps guard at the left of the screen and Medusa herself, a green snake coiled round her, poses at the right.

Medusa comes in two metals. A Silver Medusa shows a multiplier of x1 to x4, and a Gold Medusa shows x5 to x10 or x20. Her figure appears only after the stone has revealed its values, so the pile comes up first and her multiplier last.

Petrified Values

Each stone symbol takes its tier from the soldier it was. The blue-hooded man and the silver-helmed dwarf turn Bronze and reveal 0.2x to 4x. The blue-plumed helmet and the red helmet turn Silver, at 5x to 20x. The gold crested helmet alone turns Gold, and it reveals 25x to 500x. The symbol fixes the tier, and the reveal picks the value inside it.

Once the spin is over, the game sums every revealed value, multiplies that total by Medusa’s multiplier, and the win is the result times the bet. On the ways table, the same gold helmet pays 4x for five reels.

Free Spin Bonuses

Snakes & Stones

Three FS scatters start Snakes & Stones on 10 free spins, and four start it on 12. It’s one bonus with two ways in, and Medusas with higher multipliers land more often during it.

Gorgon’s Gold

Five scatters open Gorgon’s Gold with 12 free spins. When a Medusa activates in this bonus, her multiplier becomes the minimum for every Medusa after her, and only a higher one lifts it, so the floor climbs through the round and never falls back. The 10,000x max win covers every mode, this bonus included.

Bonus Buy Panel

Eye of Medusa bonus buy panel with four options
Gold and silver Medusa faces peer over stone helmets marked 1x on the Medusa card, priced at 50x for each spin, while the remaining three cards cost 3x, 100x and 200x for a gold FS and two FS-and-Medusa pairs.

Medusa FeatureSpins cost 50x per spin and bring one Medusa to the reels each time, with Petrified values of at least 1x and no FS scatter able to land. The cheaper per-spin setting, BonusHunt, costs 3x. Snakes & Stones costs 100x for its 10 or 12 free spins, and Gorgon’s Gold costs 200x, so the bonus that needs five scatters in regular play is on the menu with the rest.

How to Play

Medusa and the Scatters

No FS scatter can land while a Medusa is on the grid. Medusa is the only Wild, and only one lands a spin. While she is on the reels, the scatter count for Snakes & Stones or Gorgon’s Gold cannot grow, so a spin that brings her in is a spin about stone. She and any stone stay at the bottom through every refill of that spin, while new symbols fall into the space above them.

Wins come from 3,125 ways, which pay for a symbol on consecutive reels starting with reel 1. Twelve symbols share the five reels of five rows. Five are letters and numbers carved in stone, five are soldiers’ heads and helmets in coloured tiles, and the last two are Medusa and the scatter, a gold FS on a green ribbon. The soldiers matter twice, once on the ways table and again as stone when Medusa is present, while the stone letters and numbers only ever pay as ways.

Slot RTP

Eye of Medusa takes a bet of €0.10 at the least and €100 at the most.

Its RTP is 96.2%. The splash screen’s volatility bar shows three bright icons and two dim ones, putting the game at Medium, while all four cards on the buy panel read High.

Ways Payouts

Symbol 3 reels 4 reels 5 reels Petrified tier
Gold crested helmet 1x 2x 4x Gold
Blue-plumed helmet, red helmet 0.5x 1x 1.5x Silver
Blue-hooded man, silver-helmed dwarf 0.3x 0.5x 0.8x Bronze
Stone A 0.1x 0.2x 0.5x None
Stone Q, K 0.1x 0.2x 0.4x None
Stone 10, J 0.1x 0.2x 0.3x None

The ranks never turn to stone, and the table leaves out Medusa and the FS scatter.

Ultimate Slots Verdict

A 4x top ways pay and one Medusa per spin keep Eye of Medusa below the top tier.

Everything else follows the stone. With her on the grid, high wins turn soldiers into a pile worth 0.2x to 500x a symbol, multiplied by her, and Gorgon's Gold lets her floor only climb. A clever turn on the Super Cascade.

Detailed Review

A Gorgon on Your Side

The stone pile is why this review lands where it does. A Gold Medusa arrives, a win with crested helmets petrifies them, and they drop to the bottom with her while the board fills again. Another high win sends more soldiers down. When the spin ends, each Gold stone reveals 25x to 500x, the Bronze and Silver ones reveal smaller ones, and her multiplier comes up last over the whole pile. In the myth, Medusa’s visitors end up as stone. In this slot, stone pays, and that last reveal, with her figure still hidden, is what each Medusa spin works towards.

The ancient Greece setting stays at the edges of the screen, with the Spartan warrior on one side, the soldiers’ helmets in bright tiles on the board, and a vine-covered ruin behind it all. The letters and numbers are carved in stone too, and the splash art shows what a petrified soldier becomes, a helmet gone dull grey beside the gold Medusa.

The limits come from the same Medusa. Only one lands a spin, scatters stay off the grid while she is there, and a win built from card ranks around her only moves her down. A Silver Medusa showing x1 leaves even a tall pile at face value. Without her, spins pay from the ways table alone, and five gold helmets top it at 4x.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wins made with high-paying symbols while a Medusa is on the grid turn those soldiers to stone and drop them to the bottom of the grid with her. A win made with card ranks petrifies nothing. It moves her to the bottom row while new symbols replace every tile that isn't stone.
The game multiplies that total by the Medusa's own multiplier, x1 to x4 on a Silver Medusa or x5 to x10 or x20 on a Gold one, and then by the bet.
FS scatters cannot land while she is there, and Eye of Medusa allows only one Medusa to land in a spin.
Each activated Medusa's multiplier becomes the minimum for every later Medusa in the bonus. A higher multiplier raises that minimum, and a lower one leaves it where it is.
Four scatters start Snakes & Stones in Eye of Medusa on 12 free spins, and three start it on 10.
