About Game

The Rave Demo

Two Drop the Bass Scatters land in the main game, and the reels aren’t done with them. In The Rave demo, that pair turns into Enhancer Cells, and each cell lands an xWays symbol, an xSplit Wild, a Wild, or one of the raver portraits. Two Scatters are one short of free spins, yet the spin still gets a feature out of them.

Above the board, the DJ, a character from San Quentin xWays, works the decks inside a chain-link warehouse party lit in red and hot pink, with a graphic equaliser to his left and a ways sign to his right. Three or four Scatters open Murder on the Dance Floor. Five skip it and go straight to God is a DJ.

Game Features

What an Enhancer Cell Holds

The two Scatters become Enhancer Cells where they land, and each cell resolves into one of four things. An xWays symbol stretches its reel. An xSplit Wild splits the rest of its reel. A plain Wild drops in to help a win form. A character symbol brings in one of the five ravers, the paying end of the table. The same cells return in both free-spins modes, where there are more of them.

xWays Reveals

The Rave reels with pink-haired raver reveals on reels 2 and 3, a smiley Wild on reel 1 and 1,080 ways
xWays reveals stretch a pink-haired raver across reel 2 at x3 and reel 3 at x6 beside a smiley Wild on reel 1, and the sign shows 1,080 ways for a 5.8x win.

An xWays symbol opens into 2 to 6 matching paying symbols, stretching its reel to fit them. Any paying symbol can come out, from the headphones to the bald, tattooed raver, and when several xWays land on one board, they open into matching symbols. The ways sign climbs with each reveal and drops back to 243 once the reels reset.

The xSplit Wild

An xSplit Wild splits every symbol on its reel, doubling each one, then breaks itself into two Wilds. It reaches the main game through the Enhancer Cells, and in free spins it also feeds the reel multipliers.

A Wild the Width of a Reel

Two xWays symbols on the same reel build a Double xWays Wild, one stacked Wild running the full height of that reel. It has between 6 and 11 Wilds.

xBet Booster

Switching xBet on costs 1.2x the bet and places a Drop the Bass Scatter on reel 2 for as long as it stays on. Symbol pays don’t change. With xBet on, any spin starts one Scatter closer to the Enhancer Cells and the free spins.

Free Spins

Murder on the Dance Floor

Three Scatters start 7 spins of Murder on the Dance Floor, and four start 8. Across the main game, the free spins arrive 1 in 198 spins. The mode lays 3 or 4 Enhancer Cells along the bottom row to match the Scatter count, and they work on all 7 or 8 spins. A fourth Scatter during the mode adds a cell and 1 spin. A fifth moves play into God is a DJ with 2 extra spins.

Reel Multipliers

In both spin modes, reels 2, 3, and 4 have a symbol multiplier that switches on when a character symbol lands in an Enhancer Cell. An xSplit landing on any of those three reels adds 2x to that reel’s multiplier.

Mashup!, Crossfader and Sidechain

Mashup! turns every character symbol into the top-paying raver. Crossfader turns the low symbols Wild on one or more randomly chosen reels between 2 and 4. Sidechain links 2 to 5 reels together. In Murder on the Dance Floor, any of the three can fire at random.

Five Cells for God is a DJ

Five Scatters on a regular spin open 10 spins of God is a DJ. Five Enhancer Cells drop into the middle of the bottom row and don’t move until the mode ends, and only high symbols, xWays, Wilds, or xSplit can land in them. One of Mashup!, Crossfader, or Sidechain fires on all 10 spins, so the modifiers stop being a chance and become part of the mode.

How to Play

Where the Enhancer Cells Come From

Drop the Bass Scatters can land on any reel. Two of them become Enhancer Cells, three or four start Murder on the Dance Floor, and five start God is a DJ. A cell comes out as an xWays symbol, an xSplit Wild, a Wild, or a raver portrait, so a two-Scatter spin always ends with something new on the reels.

The reels start 3 rows deep, which gives 243 ways. A symbol pays when copies appear on three or more reels side by side, counted from reel 1, and every combination of those copies counts as its own way. An xWays reveal makes one reel taller, so the ways sign beside the DJ climbs the moment it lands. The smiley Wild fills in for every paying symbol, never for Drop the Bass, and it can drop into an Enhancer Cell as well.

Bets and xBet

The xBet switch under reel 3 adds 20% to the bet, whichever level between €0.20 and €100 is chosen. The game’s RTP is 96.09% with xBet off and 96.24% with it on, so the extra cost comes with a slightly better return. In free play, it’s easy to flip the switch on and off between spins and see how often a second Scatter follows the one on reel 2.

Paytable

A raver pays once it covers three reels, but the bald, tattooed raver drops hard below five, from 6x to 0.75x for four. The winged raver and the long-haired raver pay 3x and 2.5x for five, the dreadlocked raver and the pink-haired girl 1.5x and 1x. The five low symbols range from 0.9x for the chain down to 0.5x for the headphones, and 0.1x to 0.2x for three.

Symbol 3 4 5
Bald, tattooed raver in headphones 0.5x 0.75x 6x
Winged raver in green glasses 0.4x 0.6x 3x
Long-haired raver with water bottle 0.4x 0.5x 2.5x
Dreadlocked raver with lollipop 0.3x 0.4x 1.5x
Pink-haired girl with red bow 0.3x 0.4x 1x
Gold chain 0.2x 0.3x 0.9x
“Cash is King” money gun 0.2x 0.3x 0.8x
Shutter shades 0.1x 0.2x 0.7x
Lollipops 0.1x 0.2x 0.6x
Headphones 0.1x 0.2x 0.5x

Ultimate Slots Verdict

Two Scatters that turn into Enhancer Cells keep the main game moving, and the free spins build on the same idea until God is a DJ fixes five cells to the bottom row and adds a modifier to each of its 10 spins. A steep drop below five of the top raver is the only real drag.

4.4/5 Excellent

✓ What We Like

  • Two Scatters on a non-bonus spin turn into Enhancer Cells that land xWays, an xSplit Wild, a Wild, or a raver
  • xWays reveals of 2 to 6 symbols stretch the reels and lift the ways count well past 243
  • Two xWays on one reel build a stacked Wild of 6 to 11 Wilds
  • xBet costs 1.2x and raises the return instead of lowering it
  • God is a DJ fixes five Enhancer Cells in place and never skips a Mashup!, Crossfader, or Sidechain

✗ What Could Be Better

  • Top symbol pays 6x for five but only 0.75x for four
  • God is a DJ needs five Scatters, at once or as a fifth within Murder on the Dance Floor
  • A big xWays reveal can push the ways sign into four figures and still pay nothing

Detailed Review

When the Bass Drops

Nolimit City’s warehouse rave is loud from the first frame, with a DJ at the decks above the reels, a green equaliser beside him, and five ravers drawn close enough to show every glow stick and pair of shutter shades. The low symbols are club props, from a gold chain and a “Cash is King” money gun to lollipops and headphones. Under the paint, this July 2022 slot is about how seldom a main-game spin is left with nothing going on.

It starts with the Scatter pair. Two Drop the Bass symbols are one short of a bonus, and here they turn into Enhancer Cells that drop in an xWays, an xSplit Wild, a Wild, or a raver. Add the xWays reveals that stretch reels between features and the Double xWays Wild that fills a whole reel, and the board keeps changing shape between bonuses. xBet makes the pair easier to reach, since reel 2 already has one Scatter while it’s on, and it costs only a fifth more.

The paytable is the soft spot. Only five of the bald raver pays properly, and four of him barely register. A lollipop reveal can lift the ways sign to 864 and still pay nothing, and a four-figure count flashing up feels like a promise before the symbols settle. That lurch is part of what the sign is for, and it helps to expect it before a longer stretch of free play.

The free spins answer it. Murder on the Dance Floor keeps its Enhancer Cells working on all its spins and switches on multipliers on the three centre reels whenever a raver lands in a cell, while an xSplit on those reels adds another 2x. God is a DJ goes further, with five fixed cells, a stricter list of what can land in them, and a modifier with each drop of the reels. Mashup! stands out there, since it turns every character into the top-paying raver, while Crossfader clears low symbols into Wilds. Needing five Scatters for it is steep, but a fifth within Murder on the Dance Floor gets there too, so the top tier is reachable from both directions.

For anyone who likes a main game that keeps moving, The Rave is easy to recommend in the demo. The two-Scatter cells make the ordinary spins more interesting, and the five-Scatter route to God is a DJ gives the free spins a proper top tier to aim at.

Frequently Asked Questions

They turn into Enhancer Cells, and each cell lands an xWays symbol, an xSplit Wild, a Wild, or one of the five raver portraits. So, the pair that falls short of Murder on the Dance Floor still changes the board.
Between 6 and 11. When two xWays symbols share a reel, they build one stacked Wild that covers that reel from top to bottom.
A fifth Drop the Bass Scatter during Murder on the Dance Floor moves play into God is a DJ and adds 2 spins. A fourth Scatter only adds an Enhancer Cell and 1 spin.
The studio names him Joe Labrador, a.k.a. DJ P5ychØ Manhunt. He arrived as a character from San Quentin xWays, an earlier Nolimit City game that also uses xWays, and now works the booth above the reels.
Busted is the name of the game's 41,500x cap. If a round's total win goes past that figure, play stops and 41,500x is paid, and a board covered entirely in xWays Wild reaches Busted straight away.
