Dream for Dreamcatchers!
Five Dreamcatchers return 450x. Five Wolves on a payline return 380x. The scatter out-pays the top symbol, which is unusual on a 25-line classic, and it happens on an Eyecon slot that names no maximum win anywhere in its help. The same Dreamcatcher that carries the biggest number also opens the free games, so the symbol you want for the feature is the symbol you want for the money. The demo returns 95.436%.
Demo Features
The Dreamcatcher’s Two Jobs
The Dreamcatcher pays before it triggers anything. Two of them anywhere on the reels return 2x, three return 5x, four return 20x, and five return 450x, and the game reads those against your whole bet rather than one line. Each scatter counts only its best win, and that amount is added to whatever the paylines have returned. Three or more also start the free games, so the trio that hands you 5x is also the trio that opens the round.
The Wolf and the Doubling Rule
The white Wolf covers any symbol other than the Dreamcatcher, and any line it completes pays double. It’s the highest line symbol on the pay screen as well. Five Wolves return 380x, four return 80x, three return 8x, and two still return 0.4x, so the wild is worth having on the reels whether it fills a gap or finishes a line of its own kind.
Free Games at a Fixed 15
Whatever a trio of Dreamcatchers pays as it lands, it also awards 15 free games, and a fourth or a fifth scatter doesn’t lift that number. Every prize triples while the round runs, scatter wins included, and the free games use the paylines and wager of the round that started them. Another trio during the round buys another set, up to a limit of 15 retriggers.
Night Sky and Beadwork
The reels are framed in lashed timber against a purple dusk sky, and the art is painted rather than drawn. A brave in war paint, a chief in a full headdress, a maiden with feathers in her hair, an eagle mid-stoop, and a white buffalo fill the upper rows, with a teepee, a pipe, a bear, crossed tomahawks, a beaded pouch, and a totem beneath them. It’s a 2016 skin on an older shell, and the painted symbols are the reason to look at it rather than through it.
Where Shaman’s Dream 2 Fits
Eyecon came back to this one twice. Shaman’s Dream 2 followed in October 2020, four years on and after Playtech had bought the studio, and a Jackpot edition of the original exists too. How to Play
The two halves of this paytable use different units, and the bet panel is where that matters. Line wins follow the wager on a single payline, while the Dreamcatcher’s scatter wins follow the whole bet, so moving the lines slider below 25 changes the two sets of values by different amounts. The panel has a lines slider and a bet-per-line slider, and neither shows an end value, so the demo never specifies a minimum or maximum stake. One press of the blue button beside the reels plays a round at whatever the two sliders read, and that button is the only shortcut the demo offers.
Reading a Win
Line wins run left to right from reel one, and only the best win on each active payline counts. Wins on separate paylines add up. The 25 patterns appear as numbered diagrams in the help, and there’s no ways-pays option here, so a symbol that lands off a pattern does nothing for you. The Dreamcatcher is the exception, because scattered wins count from any position on the reels. It’s a plain setup, and Eyecon has been using it on this shell since the early 2000s.
Bet Range and Return to Player
The demo build returns 95.436%, and the help states that RTP should be returned in full rather than rounded. Eyecon rates the game as medium volatility, and the pay screen backs that reading, because six symbols already pay for a pair, while the two rows worth chasing are the 450x scatter and the 380x Wolf. No volatility badge exists on this shell, so the rating is the studio’s own rather than something the game shows you. Wolves pay well here, as they tend to across the wolf-themed slots on the site.
Shaman’s Dream Paytable
No maximum win figure appears anywhere in the help, so the Dreamcatcher’s five-symbol row at 450x is the largest value on the pay screen. The Wolf comes next at 380x for five, and its 0.4x for a pair is the only two-symbol value above a tenth of a bet. Below the wild, five more symbols start at two of a kind: the Brave and the Chief at 38x for five, the Maiden at 18x, and the Eagle and the White Buffalo at 10x. How it Compares
Three out of five, and the pay screen decides it rather than the artwork. The Dreamcatcher at 450x is the best value in the game, and it belongs to the symbol that also opens the free games, which is a tidier design than this shell usually manages.
The build isn’t this game’s own. Temple of Iris, Secret Garden, and Happy Birthday use the same 25 lines, the same 450 / 20 / 5 / 2 scatter ladder, the same 380x top line, and the same 15 tripled free games, down to an identical return. Four skins, one machine, so the choice between them comes down to art.
Set beside a modern treatment of the same theme, the age shows. Wolf Gold hands you money symbols, a jackpot ladder, and a respin round. Shaman’s Dream hands you 15 free games and a doubling wild, and asks 95.436% to carry everything else. The older game is faster to read and requires nothing more than a button press.
True Medium Volatility
Medium volatility means what it says here. Six symbols that pay from a pair keep the smaller returns coming, the free games land often enough to be part of the rhythm, and very little on the pay screen threatens a dramatic session. Anyone reading this review to pick between the four Eyecon skins is picking art, and the wolves are the best of them.
