About Game

Money Train 2 Overview

Money Train 2 intro screen with Money Cart Bonus Round, 50,000x and Re-Spin Feature cards
Under the cracked stone logo with its yellow 2, three barbed-wire cards name the Money Cart Bonus Round, a WIN UP TO 50,000x cap, and the Re-Spin Feature, the last with an x10 badge over red character symbols.

Two bonus symbols are enough to start something in Money Train 2. Land exactly two normal ones in the Money Train 2 demo without the bonus triggering, and the Respin takes over. Both symbols reveal a multiplier, the game adds them together, and the reels re-spin until a win is made. Each re-spin that misses adds +1 to that multiplier, so the longer the wait, the bigger the multiplier on the win that ends it.

This slot is Relax Gaming‘s September 2020 sequel to the 2019 original, and Money Train 3 followed it in September 2022. The studio moved the series into a post-apocalyptic, steampunk Wild West for this one, and the Money Cart behind the Respin is just as busy as the art.

Gameplay Options

Two Bonus Symbols

The Respin has a strict trigger. It starts when exactly two normal bonus symbols land, anywhere on the reels, and the spin doesn’t trigger the Money Cart, which needs 3 or more. Once it starts, each of the two symbols reveals a multiplier, and the Respin sums the two.

From there, the reels re-spin until a win is made up. Each re-spin without a win adds +1 to the total, and when a win finally lands, the multiplier on display is applied to it. So, the spin that falls one bonus symbol short of the cart still ends on a multiplied win, which is a nice consolation for a near-miss.

Reset Plus and the Necromancer

Three of the cart’s special symbols change how a round plays out instead of just adding value. Reset Plus reveals a value and raises the starting value of the spins-left count by one, so each reset starts from a higher number. The Necromancer reveals a value and brings between 2 and 7 already used non persistent specials back to life, chosen from the Collector, Payer, Collector/Payer, and Sniper. The Sniper doubles the values of 3 to 8 other bonus symbols, and it can hit the same symbol several times.

Money Cart Bonus

Three or more BONUS symbols open the Money Cart, and the gold Persistent symbols can substitute for BONUS symbols when triggering it. A Persistent used that way reveals its action before the opening spin, so a round can begin with a Persistent Payer or Collector already at work.

The cart starts with 3 spins that reset each time a new symbol lands, and filling a reel opens another one, a maximum of two times per round. Values show as multiples of your bet. A Bonus symbol reveals 1x to 10x, and a Golden Bonus symbol reveals 20x to 200x.

Payers add their value to the other symbols on show, Collectors gather the visible values into their own, and the Collector/Payer collects first and then pays the new total back out. The Persistent versions keep going after they land. The Persistent Payer adds its value for that spin and each spin that follows but doesn’t pay itself, the Persistent Collector collects once each spin finishes without collecting its own value, and the Persistent Sniper doubles 3 to 8 other symbols as each spin closes.

The 500x Full Board

Fill the board completely, and the round stops with a fixed prize. Once both additional reels have been revealed and a symbol is placed in every possible position, the bonus ends and awards 500x the bet used to trigger it. The splash card’s 7-column board gives you a sense of how much space that is.

The Demo Buy Feature

The Buy Feature costs 100x your regular bet, and you can only activate it in the base game. It guarantees at least 3 BONUS symbols and a seat in the Money Cart.

How to Play

Masks and Guns

Money Train 2 5x4 reels with the red-coated old man on reels 2 and 5 and the Buy Feature button on the left
The red-coated old man on the top row of reel 2 and stacked on rows 3 and 4 of reel 5, the gas-mask sniper on rows 2 and 3 of reel 1, and the round BUY FEATURE wheel to the left of the grid.

All 40 lines stay active on each Money Train 2 spin, and line wins are counted consecutively, beginning on the leftmost reel. Only the highest-paying combination on each line pays, and the game totals the line wins. The skull Wild can replace any symbol on the reels to complete pay line wins, and it also pays on its own. Bonus symbols can land anywhere on the reels, so they count wherever they stop instead of along a line.

The Respin and the Money Cart both run off bonus symbols, so between features they matter as much as the lines. Exactly two normal ones start the Respin, and three or more open the cart.

Bets and RTP

You can stake up to €20 a spin, down to €0.10 at the low end. The return to player is 96.40%.

Everything in the cart is shown as a multiple of your bet, from the 1x to 10x Bonus symbols to the 20x to 200x Golden Bonus symbols, so the board reads the same at either end of that range. The 100x buy price and the 500x full-board award follow the same rule, the second one measured against the bet that triggered the round.

The demo runs on play credits, so the Respin and the cart cost you nothing in free play.

Money Train 2 Paytable

The skull Wild pays exactly what the red-coated old man pays, and the four rusted suits stay between 3x and 5x for five. The names in the table describe each portrait, since the game gives the characters none.

Symbol 5 4 3
Wild (metal skull) 20x 4x 0.8x
Red-coated old man 20x 4x 0.8x
Mohawk man 10x 3x 0.6x
Gas-mask sniper 9x 2.5x 0.5x
Blonde gunslinger 8x 2x 0.5x
Red spade 5x 1x 0.2x
Orange heart 4x 1x 0.2x
Green club 3.5x 0.7x 0.2x
Blue diamond 3x 0.7x 0.2x

Ultimate Slots Verdict

Money Train 2 is defined by its Respin. Exactly two normal bonus symbols start a re-spin run that adds +1 to its multiplier until a win, and the cart adds persistent specials and a 50,000x cap. The plain lines hold it back.

4.5/5 Outstanding

✓ What We Like

  • Respins start from exactly two normal bonus symbols, and each re-spin without a win adds +1 to the multiplier.
  • Gold Persistent symbols can count toward the cart trigger and act before the opening spin.
  • The Necromancer can revive between 2 and 7 already used specials, giving a cart round a second wind.
  • A full board, after both extra reels open, ends the round with a fixed 500x the triggering bet.
  • The rusted locomotive and its four portrait characters give the reels plenty to look at.

✗ What Could Be Better

  • Five of the top character or the Wild pays 20x, so the line game is thin.
  • There's a single buy, priced at 100x your bet, with no cheaper option.
  • Much of the cart cast, from Collectors to Snipers, returns on Money Train 3 and 4, so series regulars will know it.

Detailed Review

Our Demo Play Verdict

The reels are set inside a rusted armoured locomotive with pipes, gears, spiked plating, and a large wheel, with an orange sky and a desert town behind it, and it’s a rusted, armoured take on the Wild West that suits a game about loading a cart.

The Best in the Series?

This is the Money Train to start the series with. The Respin is the best idea here, and the main reason for this review’s score. Exactly two normal bonus symbols, one short of the cart, start a re-spin run that adds +1 to its multiplier until a win lands. Around it, the cart already has three Persistent specials, a Necromancer that revives already used specials, and Reset Plus, all under a 50,000x cap.

The line game is plain, though. Five of the top character or the Wild pays 20x, and no suit pays more than 5x for five. There’s one buy, at 100x, and no cheaper buy option. The thin table weighs on the Respin too, since its multiplier is applied to whatever win ends the run.

Fill every possible position after the maximum two extra reels open, and the round ends on a flat 500x the triggering bet.

Also Worth a Look

Much of this cast returns later in the series. The row-by-row cart of Money Train 4 grows downward and can finish 8 rows deep, while this one opens at most two extra columns to the side. Same family, different shape, and the 2020 train still holds up.

Frequently Asked Questions

They start the Respin, as long as they're normal bonus symbols and the Money Cart isn't triggered on the same spin. Each reveals a multiplier, the game adds the two together, and the reels re-spin until a win, with +1 added for each re-spin that misses. The multiplier on display then applies to that win.
When both additional reels have been revealed and a symbol is placed in every possible position, the round ends and awards 500x the triggering bet.
A Persistent symbol used to trigger the Money Cart reveals its action before the opening spin in Money Train 2. The gold Persistents can also substitute for BONUS symbols when triggering, so they count toward the 3 needed.
The bonus game ends once the sum of all values reaches 50,000 or more, and 50,000x the bet is awarded. The 50,000x win cap applies to the bet made for the game round.
