About Game

Sushi Demo

The Sushi demo serves its rolls in pairs, two pieces of the same sushi side by side in a cell of a brown bamboo rolling mat with red edging. One symbol gets a red lacquered tray to itself, with pale pink pickled ginger in one black bowl and a leaf-shaped mound of green wasabi in the other. That tray decides whether this slot is worth your time.

Sushi arrived as a December 2014 three-reel game from Endorphina, in the same release as Safari and Retromania. Behind a Japanese sushi-bar theme is a 3×3 grid with five paylines and a paytable of three-of-a-kind pays. Green bamboo leaves frame a black marble background, and a pale bamboo scroll above the reels spells SUSHI in black brush lettering, flanked by red-brown chopsticks with gold bands.

Features and Free Games

Wasabi Shoga

Sushi slot reels with tuna rolls on reel 1, a Wasabi Shoga tray above a VIP card and a black-rim roll on reel 2, and yellow-rim salmon rolls on reel 3
Tuna rolls fill reel 1 and yellow-rim salmon rolls fill reel 3, with the Wasabi Shoga tray of pickled ginger and wasabi at the top of reel 2; three trays on a line pay 100x.

Wasabi Shoga tops the paytable, paying 100x for three on a line. Salmon roe follows at 50x and the yellow-rim salmon roll at 20x. After that, the table falls hard. The red-rim tuna roll pays 4x, the green-rim cucumber roll 2x, and the black-rim roe roll 1x, so half the symbol list returns 4x or less for a full line.

During the Free Games, the tray changes job. It becomes the Wild, stands in for any symbol except the VIP card scatter, and appears stacked. The paytable’s highest payer is the one that turns Wild for the round, and that double duty is the best thing in Sushi.

VIP Card Scatter

Sushi slot reels with two gold VIP card scatters on the bottom row and two Wasabi Shoga trays on reel 2
Two gold VIP cards rest on the bottom row of reels 1 and 2, one short of the three that start 20 Free Games and pay 10x, with two Wasabi Shoga trays above the card on reel 2.

The scatter is a gold card with SUSHI in brush lettering across a dark brown circle, “VIP card” in the bottom-left corner and “20%” in the bottom-right, like a loyalty card from a sushi bar. VIP cards count wherever they land on the reels. Three VIP cards trigger 20 Free Games and pay 10x, and the 10x counts alongside any line wins from the same spin.

For 20 Free Games, the most valuable symbol on the reels becomes a stacked Wild.

Free Games

Three VIP cards anywhere on the reels start 20 Free Games, which use the triggering spin’s lines and the same bet. Wasabi Shoga is the Wild for the whole round, replacing any symbol except the VIP card. It appears stacked, and depending on where the reel stops, a reel may show the full stack of Wilds or only its top or bottom part. The round can also award Free Games again while it runs.

This round is where Sushi earns its score. On a three-reel grid, a full stack fills one of the three reels, and it comes from the symbol that already tops the paytable. The tuna, cucumber, and roe rolls that pay 4x, 2x, and 1x outside the round now have a Wild to line up with.

Bonus Pop

For 77x the total bet, Bonus Pop buys a package of 20 Free Games. A bought round opens on a single main-game spin, which brings in enough VIP cards to trigger it, then plays out like a round triggered by chance, except that its winnings can’t be taken into the Risk Game.

So is a 3×3 game whose lower three rolls pay 4x, 2x, and 1x worth loading for free play? Yes, for the Free Games. Outside the Free Games, the reels are lean, and the Wild belongs to the bonus round, but 20 spins with the 100x symbol stacked as the Wild lift Sushi to 3.4 out of 5 and give the demo a reason to exist.

How to Play

Rolls in a Row

Matching symbols pay on enabled paylines across adjacent reels counted from the leftmost one, and every amount in the paytable is a three-of-a-kind pay. On a 3×3 grid with five lines, a line win needs three matching symbols, one on each reel of that line. The rolls are told apart by the colour of their rim, red for tuna, green for cucumber, black for the roe roll, and yellow for salmon, so the four rolls are easy to read on the reels.

Lucky Streak 3 uses the same 3×3, five-line frame with no wild substitutions and no scatter pays. Sushi shares that frame and adds a VIP card scatter, plus a Wild during the Free Games.

The VIP card is outside the line rule. It counts in any reel position, so three cards pay 10x and start the Free Games wherever they land, on top of any line win from the same spin.

Bet Sizes and RTP

A spin costs between €0.05 and €200. Endorphina lists 96.04% RTP for Sushi, while the demo shows 98.04%. Endorphina rates it Medium-High, a label that fits a table with 100x and 50x at the top and three rolls at 4x or less below them.

The Risk Game, a card gamble on your winnings in which the Dealer can never get a Joker, is not included in the game’s RTP.

Free Games keep whatever bet and lines were in play when they began, and the Bonus Pop price depends directly on the total bet you choose.

Symbol Payouts

The drop from 20x to 4x, between the yellow-rim salmon roll and the red-rim tuna roll, gives this table its shape. Every figure below is x the total bet.

Symbol 3 of a kind
Wasabi Shoga 100x
Salmon roe 50x
Yellow-rim salmon roll 20x
Red-rim tuna roll 4x
Green-rim cucumber roll 2x
Black-rim roe roll 1x
VIP card (scatter, any position) 10x
