Shaolin Panda Chaos Reels Demo by Octoplay

Two later Chaos Reels games from Octoplay were judged against Shaolin Panda Chaos Reels, and they share its puzzle. How do you read a win when the board changes size? The demo deals between 3 and 6 reels on each spin, with 3 to 6 symbols on each reel. Start at the leftmost reel. A symbol pays when it appears on consecutive reels from there, and three reels is the shortest win.
Mad Melons Chaos Reels and Thunder Hog Chaos Reels, the second adding a Global Multiplier, were both reviewed in mid-2024 with the panda game as the earlier reference. Here, the format comes with one Wild, three Panda Features, and a free spins ladder fed by Dumplings.
Slot Features

The Shaolin Panda is a 1×3 Wild that replaces any symbol except the Scatter, and in the base game, each one that lands triggers one of the three Panda Features below. It cannot land on reel 1.
Panda Punch
The panda adds mystery symbols to the reels, and it can also expand the slot with new reels that are full of mystery symbols. Every mystery in the same spin reveals the same symbol, which can be any paying symbol except the Dumpling. At its largest, Punch can extend the slot to 8 reels with 8 symbols each.
Panda Wild
The panda’s spirit jumps across the reels, and each symbol it lands on becomes a Wild. Once more, the Scatter is the one symbol those Wilds can’t replace. Like the panda itself, the spirit cannot land on reel 1.
Panda Multiplier
The spirit picks a reel and leaves a multiplier on each symbol on that reel. The first is always x5, each one after it grows by 5, and the top value is x40. A multiplier applies to any winning combination it is part of.
Free Spins
Three Scatters landing together on one spin start 10 free spins. The Scatter is a blue-and-purple feathered dragon head with glowing pink eyes, set above white FS letters.
During the round, the panda collects Dumplings into a progress meter above the reels, and the meter keeps its progress until the end of the feature. Each 10 Dumplings fills a level, and each level adds free spins and a guaranteed Panda Feature.
| Level | Extra free spins | Guaranteed features |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | +5 | Panda Punch |
| Level 2 | +3 | Panda Punch, Panda Wild |
| Level 3 | +2 | Panda Punch, Panda Wild, Panda Multiplier |
Guaranteed features activate on each spin after the reels land, so from Level 3 onward, all three Panda Features play out on each free spin. Dumpling Chaos also has a chance, on each free spin, to swap in reels with more Golden Dumpling symbols.
How to Play
Shaolin Panda Chaos Reels Paytable
A win in the Shaolin Panda Chaos Reels slot needs the same symbol on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost one, and the paytable counts those reels from 3 up to 8. The regular board stops at six reels, so the 7- and 8-reel columns come into play only after Panda Punch has added reels. On a spin dealt with four reels, a win reaches no further than the 4-reel column unless Punch adds more.
Reels in one spin don’t need to match in height. A six-reel board can deal 5, 3, 5, 3, 5, and 5 symbols, and a run still counts reel by reel, as long as each reel in the chain shows the symbol somewhere.
Each symbol pays its highest winning combination only. At 1×3, the Wild panda takes up three positions on a single reel. Wilds from the panda and its spirit count toward any run they join, and neither can land on reel 1, so every win starts from a paying symbol on the first reel.
RTP
The demo uses a stake range that starts at €0.10 and stops at €100. The game’s RTP is 95.71%. Free spins can also be bought through the Buy Feature, whose cost moves up or down with the stake.
Symbol Payouts
Each column is the number of reels in a row that a symbol covers. Up to five reels, no symbol pays more than the Dumpling’s 1.2x, and the table steps up at six, where the Dumpling moves to 2.2x. The Dumpling heads every column and pays 5x for eight reels, while the 10 at the foot of the table reaches 1x.
| Symbol | 3 reels | 4 reels | 5 reels | 6 reels | 7 reels | 8 reels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dumpling | 0.8x | 1x | 1.2x | 2.2x | 3.5x | 5x |
| Dragon fruit | 0.6x | 0.7x | 0.9x | 2x | 3x | 4.5x |
| Noodles | 0.5x | 0.6x | 0.8x | 1.9x | 2.8x | 4x |
| Rice ball | 0.4x | 0.5x | 0.7x | 1.7x | 2.5x | 3.3x |
| Watermelon | 0.3x | 0.4x | 0.6x | 1.5x | 2.2x | 3x |
| A | 0.3x | 0.4x | 0.5x | 1.2x | 1.8x | 2.4x |
| K | 0.2x | 0.3x | 0.5x | 1x | 1.5x | 2x |
| Q | 0.2x | 0.3x | 0.4x | 0.8x | 1.2x | 1.6x |
| J | 0.1x | 0.2x | 0.4x | 0.7x | 1x | 1.3x |
| 10 | 0.1x | 0.2x | 0.3x | 0.6x | 0.8x | 1x |
The table gives the Wild panda no payout.
Ultimate Slots Verdict
Three-reel pays stop at 0.8x, and in regular play, the Panda Features wait on the Wild, which triggers one of the three each time it lands but cannot land on reel 1. The free spins are the reason to stay. Each 10 Dumplings adds extra spins and a guaranteed Panda Feature on each spin, until Level 3 puts Punch, Wild, and Multiplier on the board together. It's an inventive grid with a strong round on top.
✓ What We Like
- In free spins, 10 Dumplings guarantee a Panda Feature each spin
- A grid that shifts between 3 and 6 reels
- Panda Multipliers cover a whole reel, x5 rising to x40
✗ What Could Be Better
- Three-reel pays range from 0.1x to 0.8x
- Regular-play features wait on a panda that skips reel 1
- Punch's mystery symbols never reveal the top-paying Dumpling
Detailed Review
Our Verdict
A 4.1/5 rating comes from the free spins, where each 10 Dumplings turns another Panda Feature from a hope into a guarantee on each spin. Everything before that round is modest. The grid is fun to watch, but the pays are small and the features wait on one symbol.
The art keeps things light, with a straw-hatted panda in a white gi and bamboo-framed reels set against tan-and-blue mountains. The paytable is the plainest part of the slot. Three-reel wins range from 0.1x to 0.8x, and the Dumpling’s 5x needs eight reels, a length the regular board can’t reach without Panda Punch. In regular play, the features arrive when the panda lands, and the rules keep both the panda and its spirit off reel 1. A Dumpling on reel 5 pays nothing unless reels 1 to 4 match it first, and watching the top symbol land out of reach is part of the regular game’s pull.
The free spins change the picture. Each level takes 10 Dumplings. Level 1 makes Panda Punch guaranteed on each spin, Level 2 adds Panda Wild, whose spirit still cannot land on reel 1, and Level 3 adds Panda Multiplier, so a round that reaches the top has mystery symbols, spreading Wilds, and multipliers across a reel that start at x5 and can grow to x40, all in play together. The meter keeps its progress until the round ends, meaning Dumplings collected early still count toward Level 3. One detail works against the ladder. Punch’s mystery symbols can reveal any paying symbol except the Dumpling, so the symbols Punch adds are never Dumplings. Dumpling Chaos pulls the other way, with its chance of bringing in reels that have more Golden Dumplings. Volatility is High, so results can swing both ways, and free play lets you watch the meter climb with nothing at stake.
Octoplay brought the character back in 2025 in Shaolin Panda: Hold & Win, a 5-reel, 10-line game rated Low for volatility, in which dumplings feed a Hold & Win bonus. That follow-up is the calmer design. This one is the stranger and more demanding of the pair, and for anyone who wants the panda with the board changing under it, the Chaos Reels game is still the one to load in the demo.
