About Game

King of Dragon Overview

King of Dragon reels with three green dragons stacked on reel 2 beside blue and red dragon heads
Reel 2 stacks three green dragons, the head that pays 6x for five, between a blue dragon on reel 1 and a red dragon on reel 3.

King of Dragon runs two bonus games off one set of reels, and the stronger one starts with six Dragon Balls instead of the scatter. In that round, every ball that lands sticks with its value showing, anything from 1X to 500X, and each new arrival sets the spin count back to 3. The values wait on screen. Only when the round ends does the game add them up and pay the sum, scaled to the total bet.

Two gold dragon sculptures face each other above a gold frame, and the reels inside it are a deep red. “25 LINES” runs down both sides in red and orange letters, while lanterns, sparkles, and translucent bubbles float over a blurred temple backdrop. KA Gaming built this dragon slot on a 5×3 grid with 25 fixed lines, four dragon heads, and five card letters, and the gold frame does most of the decorating.

Demo Features

Dragon Ball Feature

Six or more Dragon Balls landing in the base game start the Dragon Ball Feature with 3 free spins. Any new ball that lands during the round sticks in place, and the spin count resets to 3. The round lasts until no spins are left or balls fill the grid, and while it lasts, the Dragon Balls are the only symbols that pay.

Each ball shows one of 18 values, from 1X to 10X one step at a time, after which come 15X, 20X, 30X, 50X, 100X, 200X, 300X, and 500X. They’re pearly white orbs on green tiles, with blue numerals on the low values, purple from 10X to 50X, and orange from 100X up.

However the round finishes, out of spins or out of room, the payout is all the multipliers added into one figure and paid out against the total bet.

Free Game Scatters

King of Dragon reels with two King Of Dragon scatters on reels 3 and 4 and gold dragons on reels 1 and 4
Two King Of Dragon scatters land on reels 3 and 4, one short of the three that start 12 free spins.

The Free Game has a trigger of its own. A count of 3, 4, or 5 King Of Dragon scatters in any position awards 12, 18, or 30 free spins, and they keep the same bet that landed them. The scatter is the words King, Of, and Dragon stacked in gold-edged red letters over a bright green starburst, and it pays by count too: 3x, 5x, or 10x for three to five of them. Three scatters pay more than three Wilds on a line, which return 1.2x.

Gold Pot Wild

The Wild is a round gold pot heaped with gold and silver coins, a red jewel on top, set on a magenta tile. It replaces any symbol but the scatter, and it pays on its own as well, 12x for a five-symbol line, the most any symbol in the table pays.

Between bonuses, the line game is ordinary. The four dragons step down from gold to blue, the card letters pay below them, and none of it reaches the Wild. The Dragon Ball round is the part of King of Dragon this review keeps returning to.

How to Play

Two Bonus Triggers

Two different symbols open King of Dragon’s two bonuses, and neither does the other’s job. Six or more Dragon Balls in regular play start the ball round with 3 free spins, and every new ball resets that count. The King Of Dragon scatter opens the Free Game instead, with 12, 18, or 30 spins depending on the scatter count, all at the same bet.

Line wins work apart from both bonuses and follow their own rules. Line pays run left to right across the 25 lines for everything bar the scatter and the Dragon Ball, and a line holding more than one combination pays only the biggest. The scatter pays on how many land, not along a line, and the Dragon Ball pays through its multiplier once the ball round is running.

That split is worth keeping in mind when reading the reels. A screen with five balls and two scatters has started nothing, while a sixth ball or a third scatter each opens a different round with its own rules and its own way of paying.

Game RTP

Stakes climb through 15 steps from $0.25 to $125, and all 25 lines play at each one. Where the RTP lands between 82% and 98% is the operator’s setting. Every pay in the table below is given as a multiple of the total bet, so the figures hold at whichever step you choose.

Symbol Payouts

The gold pot Wild outpays every dragon at each length of line, and the heads step down in a clear order from gold to blue. At three of a kind, they bunch together, gold and green both paying 0.8x and red and blue both 0.6x, and the gaps only open at four and five. Among the letters, A and K both pay 1.2x for four, and the 10 is the smallest pay in the table at 0.12x for three. The scatter row pays by count rather than on a line.

Symbol 3 4 5
Gold pot Wild 1.2x 6x 12x
Gold dragon 0.8x 3.2x 8x
Green dragon 0.8x 2.4x 6x
Red dragon 0.6x 2x 4.8x
Blue dragon 0.6x 1.6x 4x
A 0.4x 1.2x 3.2x
K 0.4x 1.2x 2.4x
Q 0.2x 1x 2x
J 0.2x 0.6x 1.2x
10 0.12x 0.4x 0.8x
King Of Dragon scatter 3x 5x 10x

Ultimate Slots Verdict

4.0 out of 5. Two bonuses on separate triggers, and a Dragon Ball round where sticky 1X to 500X balls reset the count to 3 before the game adds them together at the end. Only balls pay there, and the dragon heads pay modestly.

Detailed Review

Our Review of KA Gaming’s King of Dragon

King of Dragon earns its 4.0 because it runs two bonuses off two separate triggers, and the Dragon Ball round is the better of the pair. Sticky balls with 18 possible values give that round a shape the Free Game doesn’t have, because each new ball adds to the total and sets the counter to 3 again. The Free Game is the simpler half, 12 to 30 spins at the same bet that set them off, though its scatters pay by count as well as starting the spins.

Against that, the limits are real. During the ball round, only balls pay, so a respin that brings no new ball adds nothing and uses up one of the 3 spins. Starting the round takes six balls in regular play, and between bonuses, the line game is modest. The four dragon heads form a colour ladder: gold at 8x for five, then green at 6x, red at 4.8x, and blue at 4x, each with glowing yellow eyes and the blue one snarling, and all of them pay less than the gold pot Wild.

The reset is what keeps the round tense. Each new ball restores the full 3 spins, and two empty spins later, the round is down to its last chance, so the next spin starts to feel more important than any one spin really is. That pull is worth recognising for what it is. As a May 2021 release, the two-trigger layout still reads clearly, and nothing about it is hard to follow in free play.

Two triggers, one standout ball round, and a 4.0 it fully earns.
